Jimmy started this bag on Memorial Day weekend and was finished a week later!! She's planning to make different versions for the holidays - Christmas, Valentines Day, etc...
You can purchase as a kit here.
Felted Biggy Print Bag
Finished Measurements: 16x12x4 inches
Materials
Gauge
  • In stockinette stitch, 1.5 stitches = 4" (the gauge is not critical)
Directions

Bottom
  • CO 30 sts using 244 Glum.
  • Knit 7 ridges of Garter Stitch (basically knit until you are out of the 1st ball).
  • Bind off.
Body of Bag
  • Using color 244, pick up the stitches along 4 sides of the bottom (you'll probably pick up around 27 on each long side and about 7 on the short sides, but the numbers aren't critical).
  • Working in the round, knit every row until you've finished the 9th ball of color 244.
  • Using the Chocolate Brown, bind off.
Adornment
  • Using the Chocolate Brown and a Darning Needle, create a whipstitch-like edge up each of the 4 vertical corners (you'll basically start each edge at a corner of the bag's bottom).
  • Using the Chocolate Brown and a Darning Needle, embroider some fun designs onto the body of the bag.
Bag Handle Straps
  • Using the rest of the Chocolate Brown and the 19 needles, cast on about 20 stitches.
  • Knit every row until you almost run out of yarn - maybe about 10-15 rows.
  • Bind off.
Finishing
  • Sew in all ends.
  • Place the completed bag and the bag handle straps into the washing machine.
  • I ran the machine on "hot/cold" and "heavy duty" cycles and included a few towels and running shoes in the load.
  • I ran the load through the wash cycle twice & then let it go through the rinse cycle... i didn't let it spin!
  • Pull the bag out, stuff it with some plastic grocery bags and then let it dry in the sun (of course, i used a hair dryer for a bit, cause i was so anxious!)
  • To attach the Wicker Bag Handles, cut 4 vertical pieces out of the felted Chocolate Brown swatch & sew them to the inside of the bag.
