I have to say for those of you that love a chunky knit this yarn is great! I have it in several colors and will continue to use it. It knits up really quick and has such a great texture.
Biggy print is so fun to work with and the final product is unique. I always get complements when I wear it (used humbug discontinued color) and it was the easiest to make. I don't think it's that scratchy, but it does shed a bit.
I have to say that I love this yarn. The colors and the texture are just amazing. The folks at Jimmy Beans Wool were so wonderful in helping meet all of my needs. I highly recommend this yarn if you are into that chunky look of a knit and if you are looking for a great selection at wonderful prices you have to shop with Jimmy Beans Wool.
The Hermoine Sweater was beautiful in the picture but once knitted it was a huge monster of a sweater. I believe the sweater ways more than my enormous handbag. This is definitely a coat rather than a sweater.
I love biggy print, it's a gorgeous yarn and knits up very quickly for instant gratification! It does wear after time, but it's spun loosely so it will shed. Be gentle with the garment and you'll have no problem!
I hestitate to give such a low rating to this yarn because the feel is truly a personal preference--but wow, is this stuff scratchy! I can typically wear merino wool next to my skin, and have never had problems with Big Wool. But even with a shirt worn underneath, I couldn't wear my Biggy Print sweater for longer than a minute. It also shed more than I'd expected. Lesson learned: never purchase yarn online that I haven't felt in person first!
I have read reviews of Biggy Print where people complain about the yarn pilling and shredding. Most "thick and thin" yarns are not tightly spun- this yarn is extremely soft and fluffy; so when designing with it, you need to take that into account. This is a novelty yarn best suited to garments for adults. Your finished piece will need some tender loving care- but that is not unusual for novely yarns. I absolutely love it; the wool is of extremely high quality and the muted colorways are gorgeous. It is fun to work with and the ultra bulky size allows for some incredible and unique textures. Try knitting it with size 19 needles instead of the recommended size 36. It makes a luxurious, super soft and warm sweater!
