One of our past employees (and long time customers) made this hat just because she wanted to knit a hat, and then gave it to Jenn because she doesn't wear hats! I guess sometimes you just have to knit a hat, right? So Jenn, really ended up liking the hat (called
Declan's Hat, a freebie on Ravelry) and decided to knit one just for fun. She decided to pay it forward and make it for someone else and Kaitlin, one of our newest gals here at JBW was the lucky recipient! (Whew, that's a long way to go to get to the point!)
In any case Jenn made Kaitlin's hat out of one skein of Tosh Vintage in the Nebula color and she also made a few changes to the pattern. She knit the Adult Small size and shortened the brim about a 1/2' and added 3 extra rows of Row 3 just before the cable pattern gets started. This compensated for the length taken out of the brim. All in all, we think it turned out pretty cute, and Kaitlin is happy to receive her first hand-knit garment! (Don't worry, we'll have Kaitlin knitting her own hats very soon!)
