Very Nice Quality 1 of 7

Product reviewed: Crystal Palace - CPY Bamboo Circulars
I purchase a pair of the Crystal Palace circular needles - I was in the middle of a project and a cheap pair I bought in a local (not a yarn) shop - the cable started to split - so I ordered the Crystal Palace needles from JBW. What a difference - the wood is very smooth and the points are a bit more pointed for in case you want to knit a lace pattern (not as sharp as lace needles but they allow you to knit anything that has a pattern with ease. There is a metal joint that actualy swivels which is nice - so you're not "fighting" with the cable and needle. These are super nice to knit with and my wish list is to have a pair in the most often used sizes that I use. The way I "uncurl" circular needle cables is - I have a small shelf that I display candles on and it has 3 pegs under the shelf- I just let the cable "relax" over 2 of the pegs for a few days and they seem to like it because it eliminates the curls in the cables very well and doesn't leave any kinks either.

My New Friend of a Pattern - Easy, Fast Knit, Beautiful Socks! 2 of 7

Product reviewed: Knitting Pure and Simple - Knitting Pure and Simple :: Socks - 242 - Beginner's Mid-Weight Sock
Even though this pattern says "beginners" in the description - it is WONDERFUL for any sock knitter when you want to start and finish a pair of socks without taking "forever" to complete a pair. I used the Lorna's Laces sport weight - and you can't beat the combination. The pattern is wonderful for me - after a long day at work when you just want to do some "comfort knitting" without thinking so much about a pattern. The Lorna's Laces colors are just wonderful on their own - the only change I made was to use a size 2 needle knitting my socks and I didn't have any problems with pooling. I will continue to reach for this pattern and recommend it to new and experienced knitters who just want to knit a very nice simple pair of socks. Very pure knitting, very simple, very wonderful!

 The Best! 3 of 7

Product reviewed: Lorna's Laces - Shepherd Sport
I will be starting my second pair of socks with the Lorna's Laces sport weight using the Knitting Pure and Simple Sock pattern for sport wt. yarn.I can't say enough abuot both the yarn and the pattern. The pattern is super easy to follow and allows me to knit up socks in a short time. I did go down to a size 2 needle though with this pattern and yarn and it works out great! I am just knitting simple plain socks for myself - the Lorna's Laces colors speak for themselves. I will knit patterned socks at a later time - but the Knitting Pure and Simple pattern makes knitting socks a quick knitting pleasure with the sport weight. The Lorna's Laces sport doesn't knit up so bulky and is - to me - not very much thicker than knitting with the sock wt. yarn. I definitely will be treating myself to more socks knit with the Lorna's Laces sport weight. Only problem - which color to choose next. And even though JBW shows the yarns in the photos at their best - nothing can compare to seeing these beautiful colors in person. The colors are very rich and beautiful and the yarn itself couldn't be softer and more wonderful to knit with. Thanks JBW for continuing to offer us the best!

Beautiful, SO Soft, Love It! 4 of 7

Product reviewed: Rowan - British Sheep Breeds DK
My first project with this yarn is a pair of cabled mitts or fingerless gloves. The yarn is so very soft (the blue faced leicester) you would never know it was 100% wool. I had to take a few rows out (got carried away and knit more rows than I needed) with no problems in ripping out and then re-knitting correctly. I had ordered the other colors in shades of brown. I love that these are the natural shades of wool from the sheep and the label gives you photos and descriptions of the different yarns. I used 2 skeins for a pair of mitts and had enough left over where I could have made them longer than the 4" cabled cuff on the arm if I had wanted to. Knits true to gauge. And again I can't get over the softness, ease of knitting, not the least bit rough or scratchy next to the skin (in the BFL selections - almost has a silky feel to it). The creams and browns are SO pretty together - have another pattern for wrist warmers with a Norwegian pattern (colorwork) that is next on my list. Very pretty, natural, neutral colors that will go with everything you have to wear them with - and if gifting - you can cut out the part of the label with the info on that particular sheep. Very, very pretty finished project, very happy with this yarn (wish I could write the sheep a thank you note), love the natural look of the colors! Will make more of these for gifts knowing they will feel almost like a luxury yarn next to the skin. Am anxious to try more patterns and projects with this yarn in the DK wt. and also the bulky. As wonderfully nice as this yarn is - you really can't go wrong with the price either.

Love This Yarn! 5 of 7

Product reviewed: South West Trading Company - Vespera
I bought 2 hanks of this to knit the Arrowhead Arm Warmers from Interweave Holiday Gifts Magazine, except I made a few changes (added 8 rows of ribbing to the top, then at the bottom wrist area - instead of knitting straight to the end - I switched up a size needle and did a K2, P2 rib which made slightly flared "ruffled" wrist, then I bound off using Jeanne's instructional video - THANK YOU JEANNE! (on the JBW site here) for the picot cast off - which made them ultra feminine and over the top pretty. I also made these slightly longer to extend to my knuckles. I absolutely LOVE the way they look, the look and feel of the finished product, and have had so many compliments! I have worn these and they are not the least bit itchy - very soft and give some warmth in our often chilly office and also give some "comfort" to my arms and wrists when typing endless Excel spread sheets - beautiful and theraputic for me. I keep getting requests for these arm warmers in THIS yarn. Am working on another pair now in blue for a friend, the clerk at the post office is waiting for her pair, as is a sister in law, and on it goes. You can't really tell but the "solid" colors are not totally solid but have pretty subtle shades of each color. I like this yarn so much - I almost wish I could buy the remaining quantity out! (I used one hank for each arm warmer with leftover) If you have any projects or patterns requiring DK wt. yarn - try this - and then sit back and wait for the compliments!

Nothing hi-tech here - but I love my "new toy". So much easier and faster to keep track of my rows. Don't have to use my knitting time to put down the needles and twist the on the needle counter dial - just click and go! Cracks my daughter up  as I zip through a row and CLICK and continue knitting. It's easy to use, FASTER to use, easy to read - and best yet - easy to find when I put it down! Not huge in size but, well, just the RIGHT size. Way easier to find in my organized knitting clutter than my little "rotary" counters that don't always fit on a needle or can't use when knitting socks. Love this! Treat yourself, or great to tuck in a needleworkers gift basket along with other yarn goodies!

 Absolutely Wonderful 7 of 7

Jeanne's video review for the Grinchy Grinch Hat  & this yarn got my attention! The hat comes out SO cute! We sell fresh made wreaths and other things during December at work and I thought this would be fun to wear then. The pattern is very cute and very, very easy to knit. The yarn itself  is soft as described & very classic and almost "old world" but updated and contemporary at the same time (if that makes sense) in both the colors, the look and feel of it. The colors are very natural looking without losing the intensity or clarity of their colors. A beautiful pallette. I had ordered more after knitting the hat and bought all but 2 of the colors. The finished product is wonderful, soft and just feels good to hold in your hands. If you're an artist at heart and love natural feeling, natural looking things, and high end, pretty, classic colors are important  - this is for you. Jeanne thank you - I don't believe I would have tried this yarn before watching your review of it!
