| Fall Knits Are Made Of These! Tweedy Bits, Savings Tips, + Dyeing Kits | | |
|
One of our favorite times of day is right before sunset, when the sky turns a darker shade of blue and the sun evolves to a dimmer soft gold! This time of day is tranquil as we sit in stillness watching the colorful memories from the day pepper our minds. While we find our peace during this time, we love to sit and knit or crochet and let our minds wander.
The two exclusive colorways from the Tweedy collaboration between Hedgehog Fibres x Madelinetosh remind us exactly of that end-of-the-day reflection period.
|
Future Reflections, a soft gray-blue, brings back those childhood days whenwe would stare up at the sky with eyes full of wonder as we painted pictures in the clouds and let our imaginations go wild towards the times ahead! On the other hand, Dreaming in Light brightens up even the most overcast of days with its creamy yellow hues!
While these colors may seem like opposites, what unites them are the speckles of rainbow tweedy flakes throughout called Unicorn Sprinkles (which is what we lovingly call the remnants of Madelinetosh yarns that have been woven into the Hedgehog base!) This sustainable yarn uses scrap yarn from Tosh to breathe some extra life into these dreamy colors.
And now that temperatures are slowly dropping, we can't help but think of the variety of projects we can make with this special yarn of ours! From Andrea Mowry's Winters Beach Cardi to the Friday Slipover by Petiteknits, this special run of Tweedy shines in all of our projects!

Knitting can be so magical! One day you have a ball of yarn and before you know it you have a work of art in front of you. Have you ever looked at gauge swatch and thought, "Wow, I had no idea it would turn out like that?!" Yarn selection can make a world of a difference to your project which is why we are so pumped to choose our own adventure with the Shibui Saga Sweater!
|
This simple sweater design by Britt-Marie Brehmer leaves room for creativity with the flexibility to mix your favorite Shibui Knits yarns together to create a piece unique to you! Choose from combining Lunar with Pebble or Tweed Silk Cloud, or you can just use Nest by itself for a bouncy feel!
Our Beans were so anxious to get the (yarn) ball rolling on this Knit-A-Long, they immediately went to gauge swatching (like the good knitters they are!) to see how their yarns will come together!

Project On Our Needles!
Alexandra's Skullivan Beanie
We LOVE Halloween around here - no really, we're stoked that it's just around the corner!
To celebrate the season and her nine-year-old son, Sullivan, our Bean, Alex, let her heart do the talking, designing her own pattern to meet her son's requirements of looking "handsome and cool" and we totally think she nailed it! Using traditional Fair Isle technique, Alex whipped up this masterpiece with a modern skull motif, making it not only approproate for the season but generally super-ultra-cool. We gotta say we're a little jealous of Sullivan right now!
Paired with or without a pom pom, this design used two skeins of Madelinetosh Tosh Vintage yarn.
Good news! The Skullivan Beanie is available as a kit on our site!
