September is finally here, and you know what that means: the seven returning Lorna's Laces Limited Edition colors are ready to ship! Last month we took a vote for which previous LLE colors you'd most like to see one more time. With the winners decided, the wonderful folks at Lorna's set to work dyeing, and now all seven glorious colors - Runs With Horses, He Who Must Not Be Named, The Shire, Sea Turtle Dream, Winter is Coming, The White Witch's Lure and Royal Wedding - are here and ready to ship out to their new homes - yours! Grab your favorite color on Shepherd Sock, Shepherd Worsted, or Honor while they last. Once they're gone, they're gone! While this month's Lorna's Laces Limited edition color may not be new exactly, we do have a new JBW and Lorna's collaboration to tempt you with! Introducing Lorna's Little Bites, fresh out of the oven and 'baked' with love by the beans! The newest yarn samplers to come off our ball winder, the Little Bites samplers contain 20-yard Shepherd Sock mini-skeins in a dozen hand-dyed hues, and come in 6 delectable colorways. Choose from Petit Fours (pastels), Berry Tartlet (jewel tones), Marzipan Delights (brights), Mini Cannoli (earth tones), Eclairs (neutral greys), and Macaroons (muted tones). Each sampler also comes with a Ravelry download code for the Stratigraphy Cowl, designed specifically for these samplers by Rachel of Unraveled Designs! Get 'em while they're hot! |

We've got an awesome opportunity in store for you to knit whatever your heart desires out of Malabrigo yarn and possibly win a prize! Join us on Ravelry for our first ever "Go Ahead, Make Something" craft-along. This month we've got Malabrigo on the brain, so the inaugural event will revolve around Malabrigo Madness! You pick the pattern, you pin September 1st and finish no later than September 30th, and we'll use a random number generator to pick prize winners from the finished objects in the Ravelry Thread. | And boy do we have some amazing prizes to give away! Knitter's Pride has generously donated a deluxe Knitter's Pride Nova Cubics Platina interchangeable set as well as a few other sets for lucky winners. We should have these nifty new needles in stock this October, but Malabrigo Madness gives you the chance to win a set first! |
We've also got deluxe accessory packs to give away, featuring some of our favorite notions from Namaste, Alsatian Soaps, Denise, Soak, Spark, and more. If you need some suggestions for what to make, check out these one- and two-skein projects. The sophisticated Bunodes Crassicornis Hat takes just one skein of Rios. The Gig Gloves from Grace Ahkrem would take only 1 skein of Rastita and make a lovely everyday accessory. Or, grab a skein of Arroyo and give the Tyrian Loop cowl a whirl. Crochet the Bandanity Cowl with one or two skeins of Worsted Merino, depending on the size. Spinners, don't feel left out! Your efforts with Nube, the new roving from Malabrigo, are completely eligible! | |
So take this opportunity to make something awesome with your favorite base or use it as an excuse to try something new. Whatever you choose, Make Something Malabrigo! |

It's our favorite time of year at JBW: New yarn season! And there is plenty to be excited about from Cascade. Lovers of self-striping yarns will want to take note of Rabat, a bulky blend of wool, acrylic and silk. The fiber mix and loose twist gives this yarn a heathered, almost tweedy look that compliments its array of earth tone colorways. Rabat makes exceptionally fun and funky accessories like the Dude Scarf and the Pirouette Beret, both free designs from Cascade. Also on the list of new yarns from Cascade is Tivoli. A rustic union of wool and silk, Tivoli is the perfect choice for sweaters and scarves this winter season. Subtle flecks of tweed and a soft sheen give this bulky weight yarn both classic sophistication and a cozy fireside feel. Try it out in the Bulky Asymmetric Cardigan for a layering piece you'll want to snuggle up in all winter long! Also new from Cascade is Kenai, a super bulky alpaca and acrylic blend with a truly unique approach to color. Kenai features a chainette construction comprised of different colored threads for a colorful, marled appearance with unsurpassed depth. It would be great for sweaters and accessories with simple textures like the Weekend Neckdown Pullover or the Bulky Earflap Hat. Last, but certainly not least, in the lineup of new yarns from Cascade is Alta, a bulky blend of baby alpaca and nylon that is so squishy and soft, you'll be lucky if you can stop petting it long enough to actually knit with it! And knit with it you should! Alta would make amazing textured garments and accessories - Leanne is dreaming of a blanket... Or possibly a cozy hoody for wrapping up with this winter. Or, check out the Chevron Waves Cowl, a free pattern from Cascade that uses just 1 skein of each color to make a scrumptiously soft 2-color cowl! |

With these themes in mind, the pieces in this booklet are knit with braided and twisting forms, in a beautiful palette of neutrals. Berroco's new yarn, Inca Tweed, will keep you warm while beautifully showing of the cables of the Capstan Hat and Mitt set and the lace motif of the Tipperary Wrap. For a lighter weight piece, check out the ethereal Tensile pullover knit out of Andean Mist. You're sure fall in love with the dreamy seascapes knit up in each piece! | HiKoo Zumie - 011 Indigo $23.99 | Looking for a super bulky yarn to knit up quick? HiKoo Zumie might just be the yarn for you! Zumie is a smooth single ply of acrylic, wool, and nylon that knits up quickly on size 13 needles so your project will zoom off the needles! Available in 24 solids, it fills the niche for highly saturated and bright colors for those eye-catching accessories like the False Creek cowl from Tin Can Knits - you'd only need one skein! Or take a look at the ball band of each skein, which features two free patterns - a hat and a cowl - designed by Cirilia Rose, each requiring just one skein of Zumie! | Creative Commodities Bright Beads Necklace - Summer Garden $17.99 | This ingenious (and stylish!) necklace is perfect for crafts and tasks that require counting! Cleverly designed, the Bright Beads necklaces feature two easy-to-read columns with large colorful beads that glide easily, and a designer ring at the bottom for hanging glasses, pens, or even a name badge. In addition, the necklace features a contrasting glass bead on one side to indicate the higher count column so you won't lose your place! Bright Beads necklaces come in 3 different seasonal designs so you can color coordinate to your outfit, your project or your knitting bag. Pick one up and keep track of your rows or repeats in style! | Paloma Tweed - 02 Taupe $11.95 | The new Paloma Tweed from Debbie Bliss is a world apart from your typical wooly or rustic tweed. This bulky blend of wool and alpaca has just enough nylon to give it extra durability, while the chainette construction lends both strength and loft to this lighter-than-air yarn. The result is a squishy and soft yet tweed-tastic yarn in a palette of muted, earthy tones that you'll love for accessories and other next-to-the-skin garments. Winter weekends are just begging for the Cable Sweater, a chunky, oversized sweater with cable details that is wonderful for adding an extra layer of warmth. You can find the Cable Sweater pattern and much more in the Paloma Tweed pattern book. | Bonnie Bishoff Stick Pins - Branch $29.95 | These lightweight, elegant stick pins from Bonnie Bishoff are the perfect closures for your handmade garments and accessories. The wavy stem design ensures the pin will stay secure through several layers of fabric and its pointed end is soft enough to slip through without snagging or splitting the fibers. The gorgeous flower design would be lovely paired with the botanical-inspired shawls in The Knitter's Curiosity Cabinet. Or use one of these handy stick pins as a closure for worn open cardigans like the Katarina from CocoKnits. |
