We are thrilled to present the fourth color of our Semi-Precious Tosh Series, inspired by the unique gemstone Rhodonite! Its name is derived from the Ancient Greek rhodon, meaning "rose," and we thought the timing of this color was absolutely perfect as we welcome springtime and all the gorgeous roses beginning their blooming cycle. This sassy, speckle-dyed combination of vibrant pink and black contrasts nicely against a natural background, creating an undeniably beautiful splash of color to brighten up your knitting needles and wardrobe!
| Amanda, absolutely over the moon about this month's color, was inspired to do some color-play to make the hot pink really pop! She snagged a skein of Rhodonite in Tosh Chunky along with a coordinating skein of Dirty Panther to create a modified version of the Present Cowl by Mademoiselle C. |
Deb snagged two lighter skeins of squishy Tosh DK to create the Textured Infinity Cowl by Lisa Craig. This simple lace design provided the perfect canvas for Rhodonite's stunning speckles! Sadly, this pattern doesn't appear to be available anywhere other than in the fall 2016 edition of Vogue Knitting International Magazine, which is no longer in print. We did find some similar patterns, however, including the Picabia Cowl by Freckles & Purls and the Jaynestown Cowl by Unraveled Designs!
| While she was still swooning over last month's color, Chrysocolla, Erika caught a glimpse of Rhodonite in Tosh Merino Light and couldn't decide which of the two colors she liked best! So naturally she hunted for a pattern that would allow her to use both colors together, and eventually decided on the gorgeous Summer Camp Shawl by Laura Aylor. |
And don't forget to pick up a pack of Rhodonite-inspired Spark Stitch Markers - they're wonderful for adding a little sparkle onto your knitting needles!

The log cabin squares for Monika's crocheted blanket are turning out brilliantly, and she's using Rhodonite to kick off her next trio of squares! And Rachel's intricate slipped stitch design is also becoming more and more beautiful as the months go by; we love how the addition of Rhodonite really emphasizes the pinkish tones in February's Garnet!
| We've been holding off for months now, but we can't hold back any longer! A beautiful shawl is taking form and we unanimously agreed now would be a great time to leak a few spoiler photos! In the spirit of a true MKAL, Rachel has been releasing each clue month by month to keep the suspense lingering. And with every month comes a different stitch design, creating a shawl that is already so rich in texture and color! We can hardly wait to see what Rachel has up her sleeve for next month's color! |
