And when I started to knit that brand new cardigan
My work in progress
I finished it and said it was my favorite
We were as surprised as everyone else when one of our favorite pop stars came out with her latest full-length album right out of the blue! Listening to it gave us the perfect vision of the coming autumn months filled with golden leaves, grey skies, and, of course, our favorite comfortable cardigans to snuggle in! Weathering the cold drizzling rain and crackling fireplaces, Madelinetosh came up with a gorgeous new shade to celebrate the success of T. Swift's new album and the oncoming temperatures that were basically hand-crafted for makers like us!

The team over at Madelinetosh was so inspired by the visuals in the first music video to come out of this era, from the vintage paintings to the golden glitter and lush moss adorning the piano, that they just HAD to make something to pay homage to it! That's why they dreamed up the gorgeously green Cardigan colorway in the Tosh Merino Light + Holo Glitter and Tosh DK bases! Think of it as a final love story to the summer months' bright colors and warm tones as we transition into something a little more maker-friendly. This colorway is a tonal green ranging from neutral to deeper leaf greens, adding an earthy interest to your skein.
|
That's not all, because our Bean, Amy, was green... with envy for that splendid cardigan that the singer-songwriter wore in the video and HAD to have one for herself. Thinking of all of the gorgeous cables and cozy fibers, she, like always, got right to work to make sure the Folklore Cardigan was not only hers but had her own unique spin to it! This project features an array of cable sizes as well as fun textures and dropped-shoulders for that highly sought after extra-slouchy comfort! Knit up in the shade Horn and using the Cardigan color as the contrasting stripe, Amy found her newest obsession just in time for sweater weather!

We know we've said this before, but we're seriously, officially in the tail end of the year! You know what that means: hot cocoa, toasted marshmallows, cinnamon sugar, and stash-busting those yarns we bought over summer to use in fall! Nothing is as good a feeling as being able to get rid of some of your stash via beautiful shawls and pullovers (and consequently filling that stash back up with new yarns - we just can't help it)! Earlier this month, we stashed away some new-to-Jimmy-Beans yarn, and we've had a few chilly mornings as of late, which means we can finally knit up some new beauties to stay cozy!

In our September pop-up, we learned from the strong women at Cowgirlblues why they built up their brand with such a strong familial bond and how they managed to pull it off! We found out what motivates them to dye the most beautiful shades as well as how prideful they are in their craft. This is especially clear because Cowgirlblues employs mostly women of color, who are often disproportionately affected by things like the current pandemic, healthcare, housing, and livable wages.
|
|
Inspired by the loving and generous nature of Cowgirlblues, our Bean, Amy, took to her needles and got to work, knitting up a storm! What was in this storm, you may ask? A hat, a poncho, and a shawl, each of which is squishier and softer than the next! She did some research into the South African town where Cowgirlblues is located, Cape Town, and immediately knew what she wanted to do - she had to design something to show off the beautiful waves of the ocean as well as the mountain range surrounding the city.
Want to learn more about Cowgirlblues and their mission? Head on over to our official blog post about this pop-up - there you can find an interview where we ask the hard-hitting questions like what inspires the team, what challenges they face on their journey, and how they overcome obstacles together!

Madelinetosh Vintage: Aged Like A Fine Twine
Earlier this year, we announced our team and the Madelinetosh team coming together to form a big family. It's been a wild ride and we're finally almost through the year (and we ALL know how hard this year has been). In an effort to help out your local yarn shops, we came up with the plan to give them exclusive colorways that you can't find on Madelinetosh.com. This includes shades like Antler and Button Jar Blue. Well, we want to announce that we've come up with new shades that can only be found here at Jimmy Beans Wool and your own local yarn shop! Don't know what shop closest to you has some of the squishiest, most vibrant yarn Madelinetosh has to offer? Check out our map here!
We're happy to announce more colors exclusive to your local yarn store, including favorites like Video Baby, a fun splattered yarn using bright teals, oranges, and pinks to make a work of art the 80s would be proud of! We've also gotten in some Mourning Dove, a light gray and blue shade that reminds us of lazy overcast mornings. Of course, we can't forget to mention the new and improved Shire, aptly named NewShire, which holds all of the gorgeous emerald tones and teal pops in each skein that we've grown to know and love!
Please note: Have you fallen in love with a color, but there isn't enough in stock? You can still go ahead and place your order, and we'll follow up and let you know how long it'll take to arrive. No minimums are necessary!

Shoo Wop, Wool Pop!
Something we never really get a chance to talk about is how distinctly one-of-a-kind our yarn really is. Not only are dyed yarns ultra special to us, but the fiber content that makes up the yarn is imperative to achieving our desired results. Do we want our yarn to be silky and drapey or fluffy and dense? Do we need our yarn to be stretchy and perfect for socks or does it need to be felted for a structured bag?

Universal Yarn Wool Pop acts as the sister yarn to the beloved Bamboo Pop! The lovely heathered appearance is thanks to the unique ways bamboo and wool take dye! If you're searching for a soft yarn with an excellent color payoff that also knits up beautifully in accessories and garments, then look no further! Each skein of Universal Yarn Wool Pop comes with 284 yards of squishy strings in a DK weight, making it a great yarn to pick up for any level of knitter or crocheter out there!

Adrienne's Accessories
Food is great, but it's hard to really enjoy it if you don't have the proper utensils, right? What is spaghetti if you don't have a fork, or soup without a spoon? That's sort of how we feel about our notions and accessories. Our needles and crochet hooks are imperative to crafting up a gorgeous project (unless you like to do arm-knitting, in which case, knit on)!
We certainly have the need(le) to knit after laying eyes on these beauties! New from Skacel comes the Addi Click Squared sets and Addi Rocket Squared Click Tips! Addi Click Squared are great for grip and yarn distribution from one needle to another. The yarn glides easily, and the small grooves in the needles hold the yarn in place to help promote a no-slip grip! We're convinced they're made of magic! The square shape not only helps you grip the needles better but also promotes even stitches, making your tension a lot easier to control! The unique rounded edges also make this a beneficial pick for individuals with grip issues such as arthritis.

Last week, we asked you guys to share with us whether you like Christmas or Halloween better, and just when we thought it was safe to declare Halloween the victor, a bunch of Christmas-lovers came out to show their support! We can't blame you - having a holiday in the cold winter months is a great way to warm up your body, mind, and soul up (through love but also maybe some projects and cookies).
This year's Craftvent Calendar is available in both knit and crochet options with two colorways each - it's like, well, Christmas morning!! The knit Craftvent design, aptly named Tidings to Yew, was crafted by our own Bean, Amy Gunderson! Taking the sweet tastes of the season, she folded them into a project good enough to eat and blew us away with her rendition of the beloved Craftvent project! This design uses large chevron panels of textured stitches for interest and beauty! We can certainly say that our needles are going to have a feast this holiday!
|
Are you a crocheter? Fear no more because the incredible CocoCrochetLee designed our crochet scarf this year! Inspired by the warm smells of the holiday baking and the smiling faces of our friends and family during the festive season, she whipped up a scarf that we can't wait to wrap up in (seriously, we found one of the Beans curled up in it this week)! Each section has a new motif to master, definitely making it a challenge, but a fun one nonetheless! Titled by some very hungry tummies out in the warehouse, this project has been lovingly dubbed the Ginger Snap Wrap!
|
Are you a Halloween fan? We're excited to inform you that Fright Club is officially being packed up by the ghouls and ghosts of our incredible production and fulfillment teams, which means they're on their way to you guys as we speak! September is halfway over now, and we're so excited to cast on come October 1st!!

Project On our Needles!
Wendy's Tube Skirt
Watch out Amy, because we've got quite the designer over here! Showing us her love for simple, yet interesting projects is our customer service queen, Wendy! She excitedly showed us her newest skirt, which she paired with her denim jacket for a completed and super-chic outfit perfect for the ending of summer!
Wendy told us her secret to this skirt is that it's literally just a tube! She knit up a section of ribbing and then continued in stockinette to make a skirt long enough to wear out on a brisk walk around her neighborhood while still showing off the incredible colors of Freia Fine Handpaints Ombre Sport Yarn!
