| Colour Crafter, Martin Storey, and Namaste Deals Hue Will Love This Pop Up | | |
It's finally October, which means we can unveil the 10th pop up of the year! As we start putting away the last of our summer clothing and admire the crisp weather and leaves turning various shades of gold and amber, we sigh happily. Summer styles may be gone for now, but there's always one thing that doesn't go out of style for us makers: yarn! This month, we're heading back to the United States and landing in none other than Washington D.C. to pay a visit to our friends over at PassionKNITS Yarn!

PassionKNITS Yarn is where luxury meets the sumptuous nature of our favorite yarn blends! Created by Ain Munn, PassionKNITS Yarn is how she spreads her love to the world with bright, vibrant colors and imaginative names! Growing up in Queens, New York, Ain learned how to crochet as a child from her grandmother and aunt, and she fell back in love with yarn after taking a knitting class in Baltimore. Ever since that fateful day, Ain experimented with gorgeous color accompanied by meaningful names and, of course, passion for the craft!

You could say we adore this blissful base, Adore, from PassionKNITS Yarn! This luxurious blend of alpaca, silk, and cashmere has become our newest obsession! The scrumptious drape and sheen of this yarn is thanks to the silk and cashmere, while the soft, squishy nature is from the alpaca. This makes it perfect for all sorts of projects like sweaters, shawls, cowls, and scarves (or if you're feeling really boujee, some silky socks to treat your feet)!
Take a shine to this new yarn we've picked up! PassionKNITS Yarn Shine is a fingering weight yarn that adds the perfect amount of sparkle to your next project! Made from a blend of merino, cashmere, and a touch of stellina, this yarn makes our eyes (and projects) sparkle! We've learned throughout the years that nothing tickles us quite like a good sparkly yarn. This base adds the perfect amount of WOW factor to your project without overwhelming you and making you look like a disco ball (though, we wouldn't exactly be opposed to that either)!
The name says it all with this one - Tantalizing Tweed is made from a nice, soft, merino available in a DK weight. The Donegal flecks help make this yarn just as cozy as it looks, making it the perfect transitional yarn to use for the autumn/winter seasons! The added fiber Neps also give a rustic and distinct feel to any project you use it in while the DK weight makes this yarn strong and sturdy to use for all seasons!
Each pattern we're featuring this month is inspired by various neighborhoods in the Queens area, Ain's original stomping ground. Designed by the ever-incredible Amy Gunderson, the patterns incorporate stranded colorwork and lacework to add elegance to these pieces while still letting the gorgeous dye-work of each shade do the heavy lifting!
Interested in learning more about how PassionKNITS Yarn came to be? On our official blog post, we asked Ain the hard-hitting questions like what yarn colors have special meaning to her and how she would decorate a yarn-themed parade float (and the answer to the latter is positively magical!)

What's the one thing we look for in a new yarn? Is it the yardage? The texture? The price? Maybe the color, perchance? We have to say that all of those are fantastic reasons to pick up something new, and that may be the exact reason why we found the fabulous fibers of Scheepjes Colour Crafter yarn oh-so-necessary for our project bags! Looking for a yarn to fit within our vision for that new project we found is an arduous task, but one that must be done nonetheless!
We were mesmerized when we opened our package and saw all of this yummy yarn in it - they don't call it Colour Crafter for nothing! These little skeins are quite possibly some of the most vibrant we've held in a long while! Boasting over 300 yards of soft and squishy fibers, each skein of Scheepjes Colour Crafter yarn features excellent color payoff and is available in a wide palette of soft neutrals and bright shades, making this the perfect addition to your stash! These DK-weight treasures pack quite the punch with their anti-pilling acrylic base. We all hate when our projects pill, so this added bonus makes for a luxurious feel and put-up - especially when you consider that you will spend less time shaving off those little nubs, and more time actually wearing your creation! Oh, and did we mention that each skein is only $3.50?!

Sweet Stripes!
Remember when we got a certain exotic man to show us his super cool Tigress Socks? Well, he's back with another pleasant knit for those of us who want to show off our wild side with some fun Zebra Socks! We always wondered - they say stripes are slimming, but we can never remember which way we're supposed to wear them! These socks take that uncertainty and flip it on its head by giving us exactly what we need - some funky striped socks!
|
|
The new Urth Yarns Uneek Sock Kit comes with just enough yarn to make your very own pair of stripey socks! Show your love for both stripes and one of our favorite hoofed beasts by picking up this self-striping wonder!
Each kit comes with two identical cakes of yarn that are ready to be knit from as soon as you open the package (as long as you have your needles ready, of course). While this kit doesn't come with needles, we recommend a size US 1-3 needle to get your knit on!

As Sweet as Cinnamon Sugar!
Picture this: You wake up on December 1st. The snow is falling silently outside and your partner has already brewed you up a mug of your favorite hot cocoa - they even put the little marshmallows in there for you, how thoughtful! You sit up and shake the sleep from your eyes before grabbing the mug and taking a sip. You feel the warmth of the hot chocolate spread throughout your body. Well, this was a bad idea! Now you're EXTRA cozy and don't want to get out of bed!
But then it hits you. The familiar scent of gingerbread cookies baking in the oven accompanied by undertones of cinnamon and sugar. You start to get up when you remember what day it is - that's right, it's the first day of Craftvent! You toss the sheets off of you (careful not to spill your drink, of course) and start scuttling over to the Christmas tree. Today you can open one present, and oh man, are you excited!
You reach for your Craftvent Calendar and eagerly tear off the wrapping paper. The fireplace is crackling, and it's warm enough to not need socks - a perfect temperature that is rarely acquired! When opening the first day, you can barely contain your excitement! This colorway perfectly reflects how you're feeling right now, and you dig right in!
That's how our holiday season is shaping up to be when we start the 2020 Jimmy Beans Craftvent Calendar! Today, we're focusing on the Cinnamon Sugar colorway! Inspired by the laughter of gag-gift recipients on Christmas morning and baking cookies with your family, indulge in an almost month-long project. For knitters and crocheters alike, the 2020 Craftvent project offers a fun experience for adventurous beginners and beyond! The crochet version of this project was designed by the clever CocoCrochetLee while our own Bean, Amy Gunderson, dreamed up the knit version!

This project begins on December 1st and will have its own Facebook group to chat with other people about the techniques and skills needed for each section of these scarves. And the best part? By the end of it, you just made your own present for Christmas, and now you can wear it all season long. Talk about a win-win!

Crochet In Colour!
One of our favorite things about a rainy days (other than the fact that where we live here in Reno, NV, we don't get much rain in the first place) is that they almost always end with a rainbow! Seeing an arch of color in the distance is awe-inspiring and really gets our minds going with different project ideas and color combinations!
|
In the Scheepjes Yarn The Colour Issue bookazine, you can find inspiration just bursting at the seams! With projects like ombre shawls, funky blankets, cute socks, and even a mounted t-rex head (and arms), you'll be a busy bee for weeks to come with everything offered in these pages!
True to its name, the Colour Issue fades through the shades of the rainbow for some positively awesome projects, achieving a different mood for each color! Every pattern found in this issue is accompanied by incredibly satisfying imagery!

Project On Our Needles!
Alex's Weekender Pullover
Talk about sweater weather! Our Bean, Alex, has been knitting up a storm these past few months, and she finally finished her Weekender by Andrea Mowry! We remember when she first picked out her yarn, happily exclaiming, "This is the perfect color for me!" and we have to agree! Finishing just in time for the leaves to start falling and the wind to cool us down, we can't say we're NOT jealous of her incredible knitting skills and love for challenging herself. Great job, Alex!!
