Hippity Hop, down the way, the yarn bunny, Jimmy, has come to play!
Easter is quickly approaching, so we gotta ask - how do you celebrate? Do you spend time with your family dyeing eggs and hiding them around the house? Do you grab a chocolate bunny (or two) and snack on him throughout the day? Maybe you don't celebrate it at all but you still love the imagery of fluffy bunnies and cute chicks adorning the aisles of candy at your local grocery store. Whatever it may be, we certainly have a project that'll tickle your fancy this year!
|
EGG-sclusively at Jimmy Beans Wool, pick up your own EGG-cited! Bunnies kit! With this fun kit, you can create your own fluffle (a group) of bunnies! Each kit comes with everything you need to create six adorable bunnies in an array of pastel, Easter-y shades!

Have you ever gotten flowers for Easter? We've heard of people getting bouquets of lilies, tulips, and daisies all dyed to be vibrant, outlandish colors of fuchsia and blue. We see through the ruse of those flowers being dyed to look like that, but we just can't help ourselves - they're so beautiful! Do you have a favorite flower? We've recently found out about the grevillea, a flower native to Australia, and when we say it's breathtaking, we mean it's GORGEOUS. Its funky nature piqued our interest and we want MORE.
Speaking of the grevillea, is there anything Ambah O'Brien can't do?! You may be thinking - Jimmy Beans, what does the grevillea have to do with Ambah? Well, let us learn you a thing! Ambah has wow-ed us yet again with another fantastic design that we can't wait to sink our needles into!

New from Koigu, we've picked up 5 unique color combinations to utilize in the new Grevillea Shawl by Ambah O'Brien (we told you they were connected)! Each colorway kit comes with 2 skeins of Koigu KPM yarn and a Koigu Pencil Box, which fades through vibrant and pastel shades effortlessly, making your job of knitting up this shawl that much easier!
The stitch pattern in this shawl reminds us of the spiky, loopy flowers while being perfect to wear year-round. Around here, we like to call that a win-win!

Want Mo' Tosh Mo Light?
Have you ever held a bunny before? Their soft, fluffiness makes us tear up with joy over how adorable they are! Did you know that when they get super happy, they jump and kick up in the air? They call that a binky! Another thing we love to touch and cry over is the splendid-feeling combination of merino wool and kid mohair!
|
Madelinetosh Tosh Mo Light is 420 yards of soft, squishy, fuzzy goodness, made of a sumptuous blend of merino wool and kid mohair! This luxurious combo is an excellent choice for making both breezy and warm, cozy projects. The kid mohair not only adds a soft halo but a gentle sheen to your fibers, catching the light with ease and making you feel as ethereal as you'll look! The buttery-soft feel is addicting to squish and guaranteed to keep your attention while you knit or crochet with it!
Did you know that Madelinetosh Tosh Mo Light is identical to Tosh Merino Light in yardage and weight? That means that for any pattern you have on hand or in your queue to knit or crochet up, you can swap out that TML with something a little fuzzier to keep you just as cozy if not more so!

Bamboo, Pop, Electric!
One of our favorite traditions around Easter is the Easter egg hunt. Whether at a small family event or a party with a bunch of children, it's always a joyous occasion to hear the roaring laughter and quiet giggles that come from finding a small piece of chocolate inside a plastic egg.
|
|
But what about adults? We certainly need some fun in our lives too! We've been thinking it over and what if we hid balls of yarn around the house (as long as our cats allow that) and make projects out of what we find? Sounds like a grand ol' time to us!
The yarn we've chosen to play hide and seek with is Universal Yarn Bamboo Pop! C'mon, we couldn't NOT choose it - it's like, the perfect spring yarn! Small, compact, available in pastel colors, it's practically begging to be used as little plastic egg substitutes!
Universal Yarn Bamboo Pop is a warm-weather staple made of equal parts bamboo and cotton. Since these two fibers take dye differently, you can still see the subtle sheen of the bamboo, which works up in a lovely fashion for all sorts of fiber artwork such as crochet, knitting, and macrame! And the best part? It's also machine washable, so it's suitable for children and adults alike!

A Kit for Everybunny!
You didn't think you'd get through this newsletter without more bunny facts, did you? We love our furry friends so much it hurts sometimes- you know that feeling when you look into your dear kitty or puppy's eyes, and you just get that pang of love? That's how we feel when we see bunnies (even if they eat our lawns sometimes).
It's widely accepted that the cutest thing rabbits do is actually when they're bathing themselves! They bring their ears down over their eyes for a good wash, and when we say it's adorable, we mean it with our whole heart! Also, we want to inform you all that baby bunnies are called kittens - that makes at least TWO adorable creatures that share that name, and we couldn't be more excited!
Speaking of bunnies, crocheters, this one is for you! From Toft, pick up the ultra-cute, super-sweet amigurumi kits, Emma the Bunny and Lucy the Hare! Each Toft kit is made with love, featuring a luxurious pure wool DK yarn, polyester toy filling, a crochet hook, a wool needle, and an easy-to-follow downloadable pattern with links for videos showing the techniques for those of you who are visual learners. Each kit is as adorable as the real thing without the need to feed it or take it to the vet!

Too often, rabbits are misunderstood and mistaken as starter pets, ultimately given away after realizing that they are more complex than initially thought. Easter is notorious in the community for being a gift-giving holiday - oftentimes with children receiving young bunnies only to end up with the bunnies being put up for adoption or not taken care of properly. This is because not enough research went into finding and perfecting an environment good for these adorable critters and because of the misconception that they're easy pets!
This year, we're teaming up with our local Reno Rabbit Rescue. This non-profit organization is dedicated to making a difference for rabbits in the community with a mission to place rabbits in loving homes, advocate for their health, and educate people about these fluffy friends. This organization runs off of volunteers and foster parents, elevating the goals and standards for how rabbits are treated and cared for.

On March 27th, Reno Rabbit Rescue is hosting 2 virtual Knit & Knot events for you guys (one knit event from 10:00 AM - 12:00 PM and the crochet event from 1:00 PM - 3:00 PM)! Our Bean, Amy Gunderson, will be there to lead the group, teaching us valuable knitting lessons and offering help throughout our time together. Be sure to save the date because, well, who DOESN'T love a cute, fluffy bunny? Please consider joining us by answering a few questions on our official Knit & Knot registration form, after which you will receive a Zoom link to your email so you can join in the fun!

Fun Fact: Did you know that rabbits can live for 10+ years - that's no small commitment if you ask us! They truly become part of the family, needing ample space for play and as much attention as any other pet (like a cat or dog, even)! They have specialized medical needs, requiring a close eye and open heart to care for and love them.

Project On Our Needles!
Alex's Willum's Summer Overalls
Okay, can we please talk about how stinkin' CUTE this little romper is that our Bean, Alex, knit up this week? She excitedly came into the office to show a work in progress, gushing about how she was going to gift it to a certain family member and how she vowed to make him a new knitted project every year for his birthday - why can't we all have our very own Alex?!
Using Rowan Baby Cashsoft Merino, she got to work, whipping up this simple romper with a grin on her face. She only used three skeins of this yarn, making it an easy project for both her hands and her wallet, hehe!
