As part of our Rowan knit-stravaganza, Rachel knit these Peerie Flooers Mitts by Kate Davies. Aren't they ADORABLE??? She used Rowan Fine Tweed in 7 different colors for the Fair Isle, and a small amount of Rowan Fine Lace for the lining of the cuff. To make the mittens a bit shorter to fit her hands, Rachel omitted the last full flower repeat of the mitten body, meaning her decrease section started with blue flowers instead of red and there are two flowers at the top instead of just 1. Rachel had a ball knitting these mittens - she can't wait to cast on for the matching Peerie Flooers Hat!

This cute little baby dress from Rowan Just Baby was a fun and easy project for Bethany! The Baby Merino Silk DK is really nice to work with and feels great against little ones' skin. Bethany knit this for her daughter Penne, who is just a little over a year old. She chose to omit the sleeves, making it more appropriate for the weather we have here in Nevada. She also chose a contrast color for the pocket and edging around the neck and armholes. This size is the 2 year size so that Penne can get tons of wear out of it over the next year! We think this turned out super cute!

Shannon just loves the Terra Shawl pattern from Brooklyn Tweed, so when the opportunity arose to knit it with Rowan Felted Tweed, she had to jump on it! Shannon chose the Phantom color, which is beautiful and perfectly neutral, making it easy to wear with just about anything!

Kaylynn is expecting a little one soon, and couldn't help but make her first knitting project a blanket inspired by the Nesbit blanket from Rowan's Just Baby! This cute striped blanket is sure to keep baby warm and toasty. Kaylynn is a brand new knitter, and she had lots of help on this project from one of her knitting friends who just had to support her in creating something special to bring home her little bundle of joy in! To make this project a bit easier, she knit the entire pattern in K2, P2 rib for a soft and squishy blanket in Rowan's Baby Merino Silk DK. We think this is a beautiful first knitting project! Way to go Kaylynn!

Emily knit this darling shrug with Rowan Creative Linen in the cheery Sunflower color. The pattern is from the Rowan Lenpur Linen Collection, which is now discontinued. The original pattern calls for Rowan Lenpur Linen (which is also discontinued), but the Creative Linen makes a great substitute if you happen to have the pattern! We think Emily's shrug turned out beautifully and can't wait to see her wear it around the shop this summer!

When several of the gals here at JBW decided to knit this cute little convertible hat and neckwarmer from the Winter Warmers book with Rowan Lima, Brooke couldn't resist joining in the fun! This easy and fast project just takes 2 balls of Lima and can be worn as either a cowl as Brooke is wearing it here, or with the ribbons cinched as a slouchy hat. What a fun and versatile project to make for yourself or give as a gift!

We have all fallen in love with Tula Pink's Salt Water collection, but Monika decided to do something about it. When she saw the Tranquil Waters quilt, she had to take the plunge. She says go for it, as the water is fine!!
Monika chose to omit the red colors from the quilt top and do a second repeat of the blue colors for an extra tranquil color scheme. She then used the red color to back the quilt for a bright pop of color. She also chose to quilt in a super simple pattern, using straight vertical seams on the back, plus some waves on the front. You can find the pattern on the Tula Pink Website.

When we first got our fabric department going here at the shop, we decided to do an easy strip quilt. And who would we turn to for inspiration but Joel Dewberry! His book Sewn Spaces had just the project, and several of us jumped in feet first! This project was Laura's (aka Jimmy) very first sewing project ever, and the results are magnificent if we do say sew ourselves!

Gus made the Fleur Rouge Quilt from the new Sew Red book as a shop sample, and it is absolutely stunning! He used fabrics from the French General Chateau Rouge collection, and used his truly awesome quilting skills to add beautiful quilted details, such as small shamrocks in the middle of some of the stars! He even made a gorgeous decorative label for the back. Great job, Gus!

Jenn made this cute hat using one of her favorite yarns, Rowan Lima! She chose this pattern because she really liked the cables and style of this slouch hat. The hat pattern comes from the Rowan Winter Warmers book and uses two balls of Lima. The only deviation Jenn made from the pattern is that she started the crown decreases at about 20cm (earlier than the pattern calls for) since she knew Rowan Lima tends to grow, and she wanted her hat to be slightly less slouchy. She definitely recommends checking your gauge, since the alpaca in this yarn will make the hat "relax" quite a bit! If you are just a little loose, definitely go down a needle size or two.

Jeanne knit these Fair Isle legwarmers in delicious Rowan Felted Tweed, and they are super gorgeous! She found the pattern on Ravelry--it's free from the Rowan Website. The pattern is called Stroma. Stroma is featured in issue #52 of Rowan Magazine as well. Jeanne says not to be intimidated by Fair Isle! You can do it, and it's WAY easier than it seems!

Marilyn is our resident super-knitter! She whips out projects SO fast, which is why we were not surprised that she finished this in about 10 days! This pattern is by Tiny Owl Knits (Stephanie Dosen) and was published in Knitscene Magazine- Fall 2012. The pattern is called 'Gypsy Petticoat' and is a duster style vest with ruffles, made to layer over a dress, skirt, or flowy pants. It uses Rowan Purelife Revive and is absolutely stunning. Nice work Marilyn, we can't wait to see her wear this!

Monika's latest project is absolutely gorgeous and the envy of every bean here at the shop! This hooded poncho from the Rowan Winter Drift book is perfect for layering over winter sweaters and coats for just a little bit of extra warmth. The hood is nice and long and also folds down to create a big cowl neck if desired. Monika chose a gorgeous shade of Drift in a deep eggplant purple color, which gleams against her beautiful red hair. We just love how this turned out! Nice work Monika!

Jenn is so quick on the needles, she knit two projects in Rowan Lima in about a month! Like her Belle Cable Hat, this adorable and cuddly capelet comes from the Rowan Winter Warmers book, and Jenn made it in the same color of Lima (882 Chile) to match! Size shown is Large, which uses 6 balls of Lima; smaller and larger sizes are available with the pattern, using 5 and 7 balls, respectively. Jenn would remind anyone working with this yarn that the alpaca causes it to 'grow' or stretch quite a bit during and after knitting, so please take that into consideration when checking your gauge and choosing a size.

Sandy just loves Rowan Lima (as do many of us at the shop, can you tell?!), a buttery soft and cuddly baby alpaca blend! She wanted to make something cozy to be worn next to her face and neck, and the Dolinar Cowl by Stephen West was the perfect choice. It's a free Ravelry download, but also appears in Westknits Book Two. Sandy used color 883 Titicaca, which we no longer stock, but color 882 Chile would be another beautiful green to use!
