As usual, Jeanne swears this pattern was not as difficult as it looks. She used the discontinued merino wool/silk blend Rowan Silk Wool, but she says any DK weight yarn would work beautifully in this pattern. For example,
Acadia from Fibre Company would be a lovely soft and silky choice. Or
Rowan Felted Tweed with wood buttons for a more rustic look. Other great options are
Elsebeth Lavold Silk Wool,
Sublime's Baby Cashmere Merino Silk DK and
Filatura di Crosa Zara. Because of the detailed stitch work, a solid or slightly heathered color works beautifully! For an average Jeanne-size woman, you'll need about 920 yards and seven of your favorite buttons. Jeanne says: 'I really enjoyed working this project and highly recommend the pattern.' Interested? The pattern is from the
Folk Vests book!
