Limited Edition Color - Becca's Last Day

Lorna's Limited Edition Becca's Last Day
Becca's Last Day!

The May Color is here! Remember, we only have a limited amount of this color in Shepherd Worsted, Shepherd Sock, and Lion and Lamb. Once we sell out, we're out!

This color was designed by Becca during her last week at Lornas Laces... She's been kind enough to describe the color (and experience) for us:

"Leaving Lorna's Laces is bittersweet for me. It is hard to leave an environment that has become like a home. With the good friends, the bright colors, the dance parties and lots of memories it is hard to believe that leaving is the best option. But, sometimes you have to jump into change with both feet and trust that you will land safely. So, thank you to Beth and everyone else at Lorna's for nurturing me (and putting up with me) for the past three and a half years. I hope that you all like the color that I created, and I hope that it encourages you to jump into change with both feet."

Can't remember what the previous colors looked like? No fear!! We've put together a Lorna's Laces Exclusive Limited Edition page that lists all of the previous colors - it's perfect for reminiscing :) And read below for ideas on how to use Becca's Last Day!

Free Patterns - To and Fro Lace Scarf

Last time we checked, April showers meant May flowers, but lately it seems that April showers mean...lots of snow. The Reno area is notorious for unpredictable weather, in fact, the saying goes something like, "If you don't like the weather, wait 5 minutes and look again." That's definitely been true lately--80 degrees one day and snowing at 6am the next! That's why we love this zig-zaggy all weather scarf, just right to fold up and take along just in case we get another surprise snow storm! Just one hank of Shepherd Worsted in Becca's Last Day for this!)

Fiber Trends Patterns - Basic Tank
Basic Tank

I'm always looking for tank patterns that will double for spring and fall. This tank is just that--and super simple to knit! Even better, it requires just 3-4 hanks of Shepherd Worsted , but i think it'd be gorgeous in the Lion and Lamb (which has almost the same yardage).

Knitting at Knoon - Prehistoric Pals
Prehistoric Pals

When looking at this month's color, I can't help but be reminded of the dinosaurs I drew (and haphazardly colored!) as a child. Why not knit up one of these easy dinos for the tot in your life? Novice knitters fear not--the patterns are easy to understand and have little helping hints for newer knitters along the way. Plus, these soft and machine-washable friends knit from Shepherd Worsted will be a great distraction for your little ones on your summer vacation!

Lorna's Laces Mystery Twist
Mystery Twist Socks

You'll need 2 hanks of the Shepherd Sock, and another hank of contrasting color for these. For the contrasting color, try Pewter or Olive, or get creative and use whatever bits you have left from previous months! A great way to use up your odds 'n ends!

Knitting Pure & Simple Bulky Baby Blankets and Booties
Bulky Baby Blankets and Booties

My favorite part about summer knitting is that it's a great way to get a head start on winter projects. Relaxed, and plenty of time to be fickle with projects. If you're like me, you start on a project, get two thirds of the way through, and then it sits someplace in the house for months before you pick it up and get through that last third. Why not start a warm blankie for this winter's little one now with a few hanks of Shepherd Worsted (doubled!) then you'll have plenty of time finish before the baby arrives!
