Limited Edition Color: Garden Daze

Shepherd Sock Shepherd Worsted
Lion and Lamb Helens Lace

Garden Daze

(available in Shepherd Sock, Shepherd Sport, Shepherd Worsted, Lion and Lamb, and just a teeny bit of Helen's Lace.)

Gardening in March? Yeah, well... when we originally came up with this month's name, the ground was dry, the skies were clear and the temperature hovered around 50 degrees. Now the skies and the ground are white, the temperature has been stuck around 30, and it feels like we've had snow fall every single day for 4 weeks... heck, the only thing that's growing at my house are the icicles on the roof!! Anyway, after debating over various variations of "mint chocolate chip" and "muddy leprechaun", Sandy wisely observed that the greens in this month's color reminded her of the garden that she'd soon be attending to... and that the chocolate brown reminded her of the dirt in which her hands would be submerged. We started with "digging in the garden" and eventually ended up at "garden daze", which we hope you enjoy! And let's keep our fingers crossed that the sun will come out and we'll all be gardening soon :)

At the Market
Ilga Leja - At the Market

Another beautiful, yet simple, lace pattern by Ilga Leja, you'll want to use 2+ balls of Lion and Lamb for the scarf option - or 5 balls for a generous shawl. Shepherd Worsted in the Garden Daze would work up just as well... What I like about this particular pattern is that it's worked in the diagonal (creates exquisite drape). And i'm thinking that I might even adapt this pattern just a little bit to make it more square... and more like a baby blanket! :)

Dolce Handknits - James
Dolce - James

Hot off the presses! This new pattern from Dolce Handknits is perfect for the Shepherd Worsted in Garden Daze (6-9 balls) and is sure to make the guy (or anyone) in your life happy... (that yarn is just so cuddly). Love the Garden Daze, but want something a little less variegated? Try knitting with 1 strand of Shepherd Sport in Garden Daze and 1 strand of Shepherd Sock in Chocolate or Cedar... you should be able to get the same gauge as the worsted, but will have a sweater that's more muted (and totally unique).

Simple Style
Simple Style

I love this book (as does Jeanne, who bought a copy as soon as the box was opened)!!! My favorite pattern is the one on the cover - although it's simple (hence the name - haha), i love the way the hand-dyed yarn shows up differently on each side of the sweater and sleeve. So clever :) And wouldn't you know it - the cover photo doesn't look too terribly different from the Garden Daze... maybe I was meant to knit it!

The Essential Baby
The Essential Baby Book that i'm only 85+ days away from giving birth (it just sounds painful, doesn't it?), I've decided it that it's about time I start to knit a few things for the new baby boy. That's where the The Essential Baby Book comes in... i've thumbed through most of our baby books and have really fallen in love with this one. In fact, I started an intarsia stroller blanket just last week out of the Debbie Bliss Cashmerino Aran and should be finished very soon! I also have my eye on a sock pattern, a lace blanket pattern, and an adorable sweater... so many projects, so little time :)

Neckdown Cowl Collar Pullover
KPS Sundress

Speaking of baby items, how adorable is this little sundress? And talk about quick to knit! This would be the perfect last minute gift and only requires 205-410 yards (that's just 1-2 hanks of shepherd worsted). I'd also like to see it knit out of the new Debbie Bliss Eco Cotton for summer... maybe in stripes?

Finally, I wanted to mention that we picked up a few other della Q overstocked items and are extending the discount to all of you! Whether you're looking for a gift idea - or are just in want/need of some new accessories yourself - you won't want to miss these savings. :)
