| Sip on Some Berroco Chai & Funky Cold Medina! A New Birthday Box Hue is Here! | | |
What's your favorite kind of media genre? Are you an adventure kind of person or a horror fanatic? Do you like romance movies with a touch of drama to them? Perhaps you like period pieces with tragic endings? Here at Jimmy Beans, we're quite fond of comedic coming-of-age movies. That's why we're a little (a lot) obsessed with a handful of comedic filmmakers out there. Why would we want to sit down from a hard day and watch something depressing when comedy has always been there to hold our hand through the tougher days?
That's why we, and Madelinetosh, teamed up to create a super special collection in Madelinetosh Tosh Sport! To pay homage to one of the greatest comedic filmmakers of all time, we've come up with custom colorways AND a project to show our love for his work. From one-off movies to four-part installations of our favorite kid-evading burglars, we just can't get enough of this guy!
With special shades developed by our color experts and a project designed by our Bean, Amy Gunderson, this kit is a no-brainer! The large, generous design makes the most out of every color with pops of bright neons amongst more subdued hues. The overall shape of this project is a crescent, making it easy to get in the groove, and it features lovely stitch patterns suitable for any adventurous beginner and beyond!
See a color you fell in love with and want a little extra to stock your stash? We've got ya covered! Each shade, cheekily inspired by some of our favorite films, features speckles of optic, bringing cohesion to this collection and also a little bit of joy to our needles and hooks, hehe!
Happy happy birthday to you! We've spoken a few times about how we were thrilled to bring our dream of the Jimmy Beans Wool Birthday Box to life, and that excitement still rings true today! We're so proud of this project and have received such warm responses to our colorways, ranging from compliments over the design to requests that we look over in our future planning.
Well, we gotta say, one comment did come up more than once and it was for a third colorway. Well, what do you do when you've already covered jewel tones and pastels? Those two are like, huge staples in our community already. How could possibly outdo ourselves?
Suddenly it dawned on us. We know how much y'all love certain shades, so we made it our mission to make something wearable and pleasing to the eye while still being fun to knit and crochet (and believe us, that's a huge hurdle to pass at times).
What could this certain shade be, you ask? Purple, of course! We've created a monochromatic colorway option for all you purple lovers out there, named "Birthday Suit".
Celebrate your big day by treating yourself to an exclusive shawl pattern designed by our Bean, Amy Gunderson, to make your birthday month a little more magical. This Craftvent-esque box contains 20 days of Madelinetosh Euro Sock, the needle and crochet hook needed to complete the project, download codes for both the knit and crochet shawl and 11 days of fun and useful notions!
Please note: The included box housing your items is blue.

You Go, Berroco!
Okay, "this week will be pretty warm" may have been an understatement from our local news stations. It was sweltering! We've been putting away the heavier projects for a rainy, less "warm" day and have opted for something a little bit lighter that makes a breathable fabric. Some of our recent favorites have been Berroco Chai and Berroco Medina, both of which are crafted using a lovely blend of summer strings such as linen and silk or cotton and acrylic.
Berroco Chai is a worsted-weight yarn composed of linen and silk, creating a blend that tells the heat to back off! This yarn creates a fabric that will keep you cool in this summer heat. Available in a soft palette of neutral shades, cool blues, and warm reds, you'll certainly be stylish this summer with new projects on your needles! We gotta say, the name, Chai, evokes such a sweet feeling in us!
Looking for something with self-patterning color repeats? Berroco Medina is the option for you, then! Expertly crafted from a blend of cotton, acrylic, and viscose, this yarn takes on a marled appearance, which adds to the cozy factor! The blend of cotton helps keep you cool in warmer weather and comes in a painterly palette of warm and cool hues that ebb and flow together in harmony.

CACT-I + CACT-U = CACT-US
Maybe going outside and poking around in the garden isn't exactly the best thing to do this week. With this bubble of heat that we've been experiencing, we've been erring on the side of caution recently, having to stay by the air conditioner or fan and take cool showers to regulate our body temperatures. That's why we've focused more on making our plants rather than growing them. That way we can look after ourselves adequately while still making something ultra-cute!
That's why we love the crochet L.O.V.E. Cactus Kits! Soft, squishy, adorable, and best of all, they'll never wilt! Talk about a win-win-win-win! These cute cacti are the perfect gift for any crocheter out there, offering a bite-sized project to keep your hooks satiated between larger endeavors.
Are you new to crocheting? We have a video on this kit that will help you out, making this the perfect design to broaden your yarny horizons!
These kits will surely knock your stalks off! The plantastic L.O.V.E. Cactus Kit comes with all of the Universal Yarn Uptown Worsted that you need to complete the four-letter cacti, as well as four Terra Cotta Pots (2" diameter), enough Poly-fil to stuff the cacti, a cute little cactus stitch marker, designed by KT & The Squid, and a download code for the LOVE Cactus pattern, designed by our Bean, Adrienne Anila.

Project On Our Needles!
Laura's Yakutat Hat
The Queen Bean has done it yet again!! She fell in love with the Yakutat hat pattern at first sight, knowing exactly what she needed to do - knit it up for herself, of course! The spiraling diamond motifs provided a challenge against the stockinette stitch background, using twisted stitches to give it a bit of interest as well as beautiful texture. While the designer used Malabrigo yarn, Jimmy opted for Madelinetosh Farm Twist in the shade Trip Wire. When she came in with this finished project, we couldn't help but gasp - we're obsessed with the color and design combination!
Great job, Jimmy! We're so excited to see what you bind off next!
