| FREE Patterns & Fresh New Colors of Rowan!
Summer feels like it's the official season of new beginnings. With a focus on rejuvenation and self-care, summer feels like a breath of fresh air! Long, hot days transition into cool nights filled with twinkling stars, and it feels like we could achieve just about anything we set our minds, hooks, and needles to! So, what's been on the minds of the creative team here at Jimmy Beans? We've been asked time and time again to spill the beans on what we've got goin' on up in here, so we figured it's about time to tell you all what's been going down.
Taking your comments and ideas into consideration, the Jimmy Beans Creative Team (specifically those who are hands-on with our della Q Maker's Bags) curated a mini palette of shades that are reminiscent of the summer season. You've been asking for some fan-favorite shades, and boy, are we here to deliver!
New to the Lotus Collection (AKA the Maker's Canvas Collection) are our two latest shades: Petal and Light Grey.
|
|
Petal: The shades of the sun-tickled bellies of clouds at dusk. The joy of kicking up the clay-tinged desert sand while dancing in your new boots. The romantic feeling of receiving a bouquet of roses from your long-time lover. The playful blush that spreads across a laughing child's face. Spinning in a drapey dress.
Each of these prompts really pushed us to make something timeless, yet chic.
|
Light Grey: That rumbling in the distance when a cleansing summer storm rolls in. The dreamy feeling of waking up with the morning light filtering through your curtains. Delicate lacework bordering your latest breezy shawl. The comfort of reading poetry next to an open window. Lounging on your favorite chair next to a humidifier.
This color takes on a modern spin that pairs perfectly with the color-blocked nature of this collection.

We rant and rave about summer all of the time, focusing only on the good parts of it like relaxing by the pool, late nights by campfires, and starry skies that seem to stretch on forever, but we have to admit something - we're feeling that summer burnout already. What with the heat cooking us and forcing us to stay inside, we're getting a little stir crazy just sitting in front of the AC.
|
|
So we've decided to focus on something a little more... maker-friendly. The newest edition of Pom Pom Quarterly has dropped for pre-order, and we couldn't be more stoked! This issue focuses on the mild temperatures of autumn, preparing us for one of our favorite seasons. With a special focus on trees (from roots, to branches, to leaves), this magazine paints beautiful images out of cables and other clever stitch patterns to mimic the winding labyrinth-esque imagery found in nature. With a focus on this transitional season, help yourself to the handful of knit and crochet patterns that can be used on their lonesome or paired with heavier jackets for when the weather takes a turn for the chilly.
|
With beautiful imagery accompanying these patterns as well as interesting articles and a recipe for something truly yummy (hint: it's a very flavorful and timely pudding!), this magazine never disappoints! To expand on the theme of this issue, you'll also learn about the textile industry and pollution, with a focus on microplastics. Learning about these issues, while saddening at times, fills us with a sense of pride when we acknowledge and change our behaviors to limit our usage of harmful products!

Mad for Free Pattern Friday!
What's better than getting something on sale? Getting something for free, of course! It's been a while since we've celebrated Free Pattern Friday, so we want to feature two projects with free patterns, each of which uses the hand-dyed splendor of Madelinetosh yarn! Affectionately called MadTosh, each skein is hand-dyed with love, making for tonals, variegated colors, speckles, and more - offering a unique experience for your stash and project bags.
The Windowlit Cardigan: Designed by Amy Gunderson, Windowlit was made to be one of those trusty cardigans that you can pair with just about anything! The non-closing front makes for an easy piece that comes in handy when the weather takes a turn for the chilly. Casting on at the back hem, your work travels up and over the shoulders where the fronts are then knit separately down to the front hems. The sleeve tabs are optional, but we think they add a bit of whimsy!
The Cardiflower Cardigan: This pattern was also designed by Amy Gunderson (she's seriously the speediest knitter we've ever met!). This cardigan is perfect to get you ready for autumn, featuring cropped sleeves and a slightly cropped body, making it perfect for layering while still allowing movement. This piece is knit almost seamlessly from the top down with optional pockets, an eye-catching lacework yoke, and a line of button closures to keep you bundled up when you need it most!

Block It!
They say good things come in tiny packages, and the Lazadas Super Flexible Blocking Wires are certainly no exception! In our day-to-day lives, we've learned that being flexible is a skill that needs a lot of fine-tuning so we don't get stuck in our ways. Being stubborn can have its time in the spotlight, but being flexible opens the door to a lot of great opportunities!
|
And this idea was taken to heart with these flexible blocking wires! Arriving in a small, travel-friendly container, the wires come coiled up and spring out straight when removed. Not only are they small enough to keep in your project bag for on-the-go blocking, but they keep your projects rust-free!
You can use them for blocking straight lines, curves, and even scallops - talk about flexibility! Not only are they basically the superhero of blocking projects, but they come with rust-repellent, nickel-plated T-pins, keeping your finished projects clean, tidy, and blocked to perfection!

Project On Our Needles!
Urth Yarns Bommer Canyon Wrap
We think we can safely say that chevrons are never going to go out of style - just look at this beautiful wrap using Urth Yarns Uneek Fingering and Monokrom Fingering! Named after the canyon where the photos took place, this wrap's colors are reminiscent of the ancient oak and sycamore groves as well as the rocky outcrops. The natural beauty of this canyon is reflected perfectly in the jagged stripes and earthy colors.
Ideal for spring, summer, and autumn, this wrap features both well-defined and seamless transitions of color, thanks to the self-striping and tonal colorways of Urth Yarns.
The Bommer Canyon Wrap is now available as a kit on our site!
