Cold weather is officially here in Reno, and all we can think about is staying inside to play board games, watch our favorite TV shows and movies, and of course, knit and crochet! This month's Micro-Brewed Series theme is a mash-up of our favorite activities with a unique bent we're affectionately calling "Gamers and Geeks", though you don't have to be either to enjoy these gorgeous colors! Each hand dyed hue also represents a type of journey, whether through space, time, or an imaginary kingdom - so whichever path you choose, we hope it leads you to something beautiful! |

| As soon as we saw the deliciously warm-toned gradient set from Wooly Wonka Fibers, we knew it had to be called "Settlers of Catan" - the hues are a spot-on interpretation of the colors from the box of this cult-favorite board game! If you haven't played, think of it as a sort of Monopoly of the Dark Ages; it's strategic, cutthroat, and absolutely addictive! |
The 4 colors of Ceridwen Sock that make up this gorgeous set are just as captivating: luminous gold, earthy terracotta, rich brown, and deep burgundy mix so well together, you'd swear these 100-yard mini skeins were all one hank! They'll do better than Brick and Wood to build the Haerfest Cowl, designed by Wooly Wonka's dyer, Anne; the alluring hues are as inviting as a warm fire and a cup of hot mulled cider! In honor of this month's color, Anne is offering the pattern at 25% off through December 15th. Like this pattern? Check out Anne's new book, Free Spirit Knits! |

| Need a doctor? Our resident hand-dyer (and Dr. Who devotee!), Rachel of Unraveled Designs and Yarn, whipped up her contribution to this month's theme so quickly, you'd swear she used a sonic screwdriver! And that's exactly what inspired her entrancing gradient colorway: Regeneration slowly evolves from bold blue, to elegant gray, to dazzling green, in tribute to the transition from the 10th to the 11th Doctor and the colors of light emitted by their respective tools (we won't call them magic wands)! |
Whether you're into time travel or not, we can all agree this color is befitting a Time Lord... or, you know, any Whovian who just wants a really awesome shawl! How about the Poe Shawl by Corrina Ferguson? The light fingering weight, merino-nylon blend of the Unraveled Swirl Fingering yarn would do perfectly. Just DON'T BLINK - and no, not because of lurking Weeping Angels, but because you might miss out on this lovely limited edition colorway! To see more of Rachel's yarns and designs, visit the Unraveled Designs website! |

| As the Elves fade into the East, so begins the Age of...Yarn?
Our Leslie (along with many of us Beans and fantasy lovers everywhere!) has an extra-soft spot for the Lord of the Rings - and, for Dragonfly Fibers, an indie dyer from the Washington, D.C. area!
|
Their color this month calls to mind an evening sky suffused with vibrant light over Lake Matheson, in the region of New Zealand where the Lord of the Rings movies were filmed -so, we're calling it Sunset over Middle Earth! You might imagine, as you knit with this glowing mix of dusky purples and mauves, serene blues, and radiant reds, that you're seated by the Bywater Pool, watching the sun sink over the Shire. On the fingering-weight single-ply Pixie base, the 475 yards of this soft and sumptuous superwash wool looks amazing in the Hills of Evendim shawl designed just for this color by Fatimah Hinds! Will it be "one shawl to rule them all"? You decide! Flit on over to the Dragonfly Fibers website for more alluring yarns and colorways! |

| As soon as she heard this month's theme, Saremy of Chicken Boots was in - and luckily, she had the perfect fabrics to make her handcrafted Stitch Marker Pouches fit the bill! In a nod to old-school arcade games, Saremy whipped up a Pacman and Tetris pouch that's perfect for holding your game tokens, quarters, or knitting notions, and fits right in the pocket of your acid-washed jeans! |
The second pouch this month is all about whimsy: Dear Deer features fanciful stag silhouettes adorned with colorful flowers! They're as charming as can be, and we're sure Bambi would approve (and Rudolph, too, if he happens to see one in somebody's stocking!)! Speaking of stockings, these little pouches would make adorable holiday gifts, or cute holders for gift cards, cash, or Hanukkah gelt! Get creative: what's in your pouch? | |
