Our Micro-Brewed Series this year is all about celebrating the written word, and some of the best words written weren't in books - they were in graphic novels and comics! The July dyers chose to show their passion for their favorite comics and graphic novels with a trio of amazing colors that will have you heading for this year's Comic Con (which is THIS weekend in San Diego!), or at the very least, your local comic book store! |

As excited as we were about this month's theme, Tina from Blue Moon Fiber Arts was even more so: she's a big fan of The Sandman! Neil Gaiman's classic series captures the powerful forces that rule the universe, and Tina's color captures the most whimsical of them: experience A Little Delirium! Dyed on the Cloud Nine base, a heavenly mixture of merino, cashmere, and nylon, this delightful fingering-weight yarn features all the colors you'd expect to be associated with an eccentric deity: ethereal grays and light blues splashed with pops of bright neon purple, shocking pink, and luminous yellow! Our Emma couldn't wait to cast on Herald by Janina Kallio, and the simple lines of the pattern show off every gorgeous transmutation in this fabulous yarn! And if that wasn't enough to make you feel a little delirious, our friends at Loops are offering a fun partner color in Cloud Nine as well! Check it out on the new Loops website! For more sensational yarns and colorways, visit the Blue Moon Fiber Arts website! |

When you think of Star Wars, you might not think of comics, but devoted fans know the real action is within those thin pages and not just on the movie screen! Carolyn from Swift Yarns knows what we're talking about - and she created a gorgeous colorway to commemorate the comics! Lightsaber is a bright and attention-grabbing mix of multi-colored speckles on a light blue base meant to mimic the colors of the legendary Jedi weapons, and it's quickly burning a permanent spot on our favorites list! And dyed on the merino-cashmere-nylon Bliss Sock base, there are 400 squishy, delicious yards of it to love! Kristen liked it so much, she knit a speckled version of her Aries Shawlette! |

The specter of Arkham Asylum has been giving Gotham residents (and Batman comics readers) the heebie-jeebies since 1974, but Ce from The Uncommon Thread is here to lend some beauty to the madness! Her colorway this month, Arkham Asylum, is a mysterious, steely dark gray with a subtle overlay of brightly colored speckles, almost like fairy lights or spirits caught in an old photograph! The generous 437 yards of this soft, superwash merino wool are enough to knit a shawlette like Chris's new design, Insatient, with just one skein! In fact, purchase 1 skein of this yarn, and get a coupon code to download the pattern on Ravelry for FREE! |
