'Tis the season for cool and lightweight tops that are perfect for wearing on their own or layering over tank-tops and dresses! When knit with plant fibers like linen or cotton, these tops are not only a pleasure to knit when the heat sets in, but also become lasting, wearable garments that will keep you cool in that summer sun! Not to mention how quickly they'll fly off your needles due to the loose nature of the resulting fabric!
Terry, our resident knitting guru, has already begun her summer top classes and we couldn't wait to share with you her inspiration board (pictured above) with gauge swatches she and her students have made. Our newer summer yarns from Shibui Knits -
Reed and
Twig - are excellent choices, along with the tried and true Cascade
Ultra Pima Fine, but these aren't the only summer yarns we're excited about this month! We've also got
Breezed, a brand new limited edition yarn from Rowan, and plenty more to get you excited for summer knitting! Just take a look at all of the project "knitspiration" below!
And don't forget - the drapey nature of many of these tops means you have room to play with different weights simply by adjusting your needle size. Just make sure to do as Terry did and swatch, swatch, swatch!
