| SmartStix, della Q, Namaste, and a Sale! We're Going International! | | |
Can you believe this is the FOURTH week of Jimmy Beans Wool University? A whole month has officially flown by packed to the brim with fun facts, new knowledge, and summery sales! We've learned a lot about our yarns from where they come from as well as how they're dyed, so we're gonna take a step back and relax for our field trip this week!

Last weekend, we hosted our annual Jimmy Beans Wool Biggest Little Getaway! Our field trip has been brought home to the Renaissance Hotel in Reno, NV. We started things off right with the fun and witty Michael Sellick of the Crochet Crowd (we didn't know we could laugh so hard!) before waking up bright and early for breakfast with Cascade the next day. To make things easier during class time (and make sure no one was overwhelmed), we split off into four groups. Two of the groups stayed at the hotel while the remaining two made their way down to the Jimmy Beans Wool warehouse!

In the evening, we met up again at the hotel and had a pleasant dinner with Shibui Knits (they showed us some beautiful patterns knit up with our favorite bases that have now been made into kits!) before doin' it all again the next day! Our teachers were kind and fun, and taught us interesting ways to dye and create with our yarn!
We want to thank everyone who participated. Without you, this retreat wouldn't have been as magical as it was!
Interested in learning more? Check out our required reading, "A Midsummer Knit's Dream" over on our blog this week! Reading through this can help you ace your next quiz and put you in the running to win a fully loaded Namaste Maker's Train Case or Namaste Maker's Backpack!
DID YOU KNOW?: Some of us took a trip to see the beautiful Lake Tahoe in our free time. This lake is the largest alpine lake in North America!

Back in May of 2019, Della (the mastermind behind della Q) hung up her handbag and passed the torch to Jimmy to keep the flame lit! So last month, Jimmy flew out to Vietnam to get some super top-secret things squared away all in the name of crafting (don't worry, we will unveil these soon)! She visited the families that create the della Q bags and learned everything from how the materials they use are grown to how they are harvested and woven into the irresistible items we see today! Each bag is made by hand from start to finish, making each pouch a work of art that's rich in history.

Finding Makers Nirvana
Oh snap! The revived Namaste line is having its first anniversary this year! This special occasion has us going back to 2018 China; this is where Namaste was picked back up and given a new look with a fresh message of mindfulness. Jimmy believed that everyone could use a break during their busy day-to-day lives to just breathe and create, incorporating a little moment of peace in the day. Traveling to China, she got straight to work to bring this vision to life! Jimmy has met every single one of the people that make Namaste as smooth and beautiful as it is!

Messy needles equal a messy mind. We've all been there, rummaging through our stash to find the one size we need only to get frustrated when it doesn't show up! To solve this, Jimmy created the Namaste Maker's Portfolio!
With multiple clear sleeves, a sturdy outer shell, and a strong handle for travel, you can say goodbye to clutter and HELLO to making nirvana.
|
Not everything in the revived line of Namaste is new; in fact, an oldie but goodie remained with just a few improvements on the original design.
With durable double-sided snaps and reinforced corners, the Namaste Oh Snap bag remains the perfect on-the-go project pouch! The mesh exterior makes your project easy to identify while the snaps keep your yarn safe from snags!

DID YOU KNOW?: The lotus (Namaste's Logo) was considered a symbol of purity in ancient China. Brightly colored lotus blooms currently symbolize enlightenment and rebirth!

Have you heard the story of SmartStix? While in India, Jimmy was crafting in the car and realized, "Uh-oh! I don't have anything to measure with!" So frantically, she searched through all kinds of weird things to try to get a measurement (seriously, strange items like an envelope and markers). Jimmy's BFF and the GM at Jimmy Beans, Shannon, came to the rescue and busted out an app to help her through this tough time and asked, "Man, why don't they just have markings on the needles for this?" to which Jimmy lit up, "Dang! That's smart!" And the rest is history! The two visited Knitter's Pride and told them all about this new, neat idea and how to bring it to life. Now, a year later, we have all sorts of smart designs from circular needles, to crochet hooks, to double point needles just waiting to get a taste of some yarny goodness!
Now, you gotta promise to keep this a secret, but we heard a rumor that Jimmy has some interchangeable tips coming soon (shhh, you didn't hear that from us!)!
DID YOU KNOW?: SmartStix are made with high quality, lightweight aluminum! This durable metal makes the yarn glide across the needles like a dream. The best part? No string-splitting here!

T-N-N-YAY!
Two weeks ago, Jimmy and Amy attended TNNA (which stands for The National Needlearts Association) in Cleveland, Ohio and had a blast! Seeing sneak peeks of some of the newest notions and upcoming trends was exciting, and we can't wait to share their findings with you all in the coming weeks! TNNA is also about catching up with relationships within the community (Jimmy even slipped away to have pizza with Urth Yarns!) and spread the love and positivity around. To make some room for these nifty things, we've put a few of our favorite strings (Hint: this includes some Hikoo, Koigu, Freia Fine Handpaints, and Noro!) on sale, and some are anywhere between 15%-60% off!
DID YOU KNOW?: TNNA strives to help our community be the best it can be! Through the love of the art, TNNA inspires and encourages us all with the desire to create through leadership, education, and a strong marketplace.
