| Tosh Sweater Club, Pie Day Kits, and a Giveaway!
As makers, we all internally prepare for that ONE specific question: "Cute top! Where did you get it!?" And suddenly a rush of pride washes over us as we proudly proclaim, "I made it!" - then we strike a pose, basking in the praise and satisfaction! Okay, maybe we don't always pose, but mentally? We're celebrating!
That's why we're starting a club where we can always ride that feeling of self-confidence and delight! Using Madelinetosh yarn in new, exclusive colorways, we are featuring a kit every three months that's only available through Jimmy Beans Wool. Our first project is a breezy, summery tee that's perfect for lounging and soaking up the sun!

The Madelinetosh Sweater Club is the perfect way to introduce larger projects into your repertoire and connect with other knitters who are working on the same project in a dedicated Facebook group! This Facebook group is only available to those who are participating in the Madelinetosh Sweater Club (including the Beans who will be active and available to help). Never knit a pullover before? Not a problem! There will also be live videos periodically to spark conversation, answer questions, help with techniques, and just chill while we all knit together! The projects will change throughout the year, ranging in yarn weight and sweater shape/type to keep things interesting and introduce you to new patterns!

Alright, y'all, let us spin you a yarn! A koan is a paradoxical statement used in meditation. By asking these sometimes difficult questions, we clear our minds by eliminating background noise. This helps us find a place of peace and reach a place of complete zen. Similarly to how we relax when we sit down with a cup of tea and some yarn on our needles - the meditative stitchwork calms us down from our stressful days!
New from Shibui Knits comes Koan, a sumptuous blend of 70% linen and 30% mulberry silk just in time for the breezy days we have ahead of us! This fingering weight yarn is a powerhouse, taking the best of both worlds, combining the strength of linen and marrying it to the shimmer of silk, resulting in a unique and gorgeous final product!
Available in Shibui Knits' sophisticated color palette of neutrals and jewel tones (with the addition of 2 new, springtime shades: 2200 Paloma and 2201 Crete), you can get a head-start on your summer projects like one of our Beans, Alex did in our Project Log - she's ready to lounge in her newly finished Calla sleeveless top!

We've got something cookin' in the Jimmy Beans kitchen just in time for one of our favorite unofficial holidays, Pi Day! To celebrate the big 3/14 in our own, nerdy way, we've got a sweet treat that just so happens to contain our recommended daily dose of fiber, hehe!
Alright, we have to admit, as fun as it is to cheekily say, "Happy Pi Day!" to our friends and chuckle to ourselves for the mathematical pun, that phrase also awakens something in us: Hunger. So we got to thinking: How can we bring the world of math and food together?
Introducing the Jimmy Beans Wool Pi Day/Pie Day Shawl! This project is a treat we can all have a slice of because it has just enough filling to satiate not only our sweet tooth but our needles and hooks as well! Oh yeah, you read that right - this kit has a knit and crochet version available! Shawls are perfect accessories that are fun to make and acceptable to wear no matter what time of year it is - it's a win-win! Did we mention this kit also has a recipe to make your own pie? You can officially bake your pie and knit/crochet it too!
|
|
Each Pi Day/Pie Day Shawl Kit contains the following:
- 1 8 7/8" x 1 1/8" aluminum pie tin - 1 pie server - 1 basic fruit pie recipe on a postcard - 1 serving size (skein) of Madelinetosh Tosh Merino Light in an exclusive colorway inspired by a delicious pie flavor - Ravelry download codes for both a knit and crochet pattern
So, whaddya say? Are you ready to dig into this pie-fect project?!

Adrienne's Accessories
Picture this: You're out for a nice brunch with your friends. You bring your project bag with you to idly work on your knitting while you sit and wait for your food, and then it hits you - you forgot some of your tools! Now you're sitting there, yarn in hand, wondering if you can figure out an alternative way to snip your yarn or count your rows. Counting may be achievable, but then you miss out on the conversation, or worse! You count wrong because the restaurant is too loud to concentrate! Ugh!
Luckily, our Accessory Admiral, Adrienne (try saying that five times fast) set sail, embarking on a journey to find the perfect all-in-one notions to make crafting easier on us, and boy, did she deliver!

Part of knitting involves making sure your gauge is correct, which can be a feat in itself! Sometimes counting your stitches can be a little hard on the eyes no matter your age (don't even get us started on trying to knit with darker yarns for the first time), so that's where the EZ PZ Gauge Ruler comes in! This awesome accessory is clear with a marking at every inch to easily identify exactly what you need out of your next swatch! It also features a 2x magnification, which doubles the size of your stitches so you can count them without fear of losing your place!

Back and better than ever, the new Knit Kit 2.0 is here with all of the bells and whistles the original Knit Kit had, but with a new, expanded 3-digit row counter, a retractable 5-ft tape measure, AND a fully removable double-ended crochet hook, making picking up dropped stitches a breeze! The back of the Knit Kit 2.0 is large enough to hold a small pair of scissors, stitch markers, a darning needle, and point protectors as well as holding an expanded needle gauge that measures up to a US 19, which basically makes this the Swiss Army kit of knitter's accessories!

Alex found herself in this exact situation this week, eyeing Shibui Knits Koan before she eventually broke - she HAD to knit something out of it! Picking a breezy design that will find a good home in her spring and summer wardrobe, Alex set off on her newest knitting journey! Using Shibui Knits Koan yarn - 2002 Graphite and Shibui Knits Koan yarn - 2003 Ash, she finished this cute sleeveless tee in record time!
