| A Vrinda Pop-Up, Easter Ideas, & Home Sweet Tosh! Our April Pop-up Shop is HERE! | | |
April Fool's Day may have just passed, but we're sure not foolin' around with announcing our next pop-up pick! Vrinda Yarn was born out of a passion for inspiring others and finding their inner creativity through peace and meditation. Marrying the soothing worlds of fiber arts and mindful breathing, founders Nikki and Jay found the perfect place to let their love for art truly blossom!

|
Like all artists, Jay wanted to find a new hobby to dive into, and one fateful day, Nikki suggested dyeing yarn, and now the rest is knit-story! Getting to experience creating color stories and combinations was a dream come true as their fascination grew! Vrinda Yarn always wants to find shades that speak to the maker's souls, making it their goal to have at least one color in their arsenal for every artist out there! Each colorway is named after places or things that are special to the duo, like memories of family trips or hidden gems based on their love for pop culture such as After All This Time - *hint hint*!

- Pada Sock is a 4-ply fingering weight yarn made out of 100% superwash merino. The unique way it's plied makes this yarn durable enough for any project out there like drapey shawls or tough socks without the use of nylon! The unique way this yarn is spun creates a work of art in each skein with how the dye takes to the wool!
- Prema Light Fingering is a brand new, luxurious blend of superfine merino wool and silk, giving it the bounce from wool and the drape and sheen from the silk. This 2-ply yarn comes with a generous 547 yards per skein, making your next shawl a breeze (because, seriously, who DOESN'T hate weaving in a bunch of ends?).
- Shakti DK mirrors the other yarns in being strong for a myriad of designs without the use of nylon. As the name would suggest, this yarn is a 4-ply DK weight made out of 100% superwash merino wool. Perfect for splurging on your next project without the looming fear of hand-washing it! Despite its strength, this yarn is as squishy and soft as can be!
Amy, our resident design duchess, loved the vibrant (and cleverly named!) colorways from Vrinda so much that she decided to create some patterns out of them! Featuring a scarf, a sweater, and socks, there's a little something for everyone with these designs! Amy was inspired by the masterful dyeing, which created vivid color changes that make these garments look like they're hand painted. Read through our interview to learn how they come up with colors, names, and so much more on our blog!

Since it's officially April, we've had a hankerin' for something a little sweet in preparation for Easter. Apple pie, meringue, hot cross buns - the list could go on! While we think about baking something nice for ourselves, we can't help but think about what we're gonna do for our needles and hooks. Surely they're craving something nice too, right?!
We've hand-selected a bushel of ideas to set the table this year for anyone who's looking for a full course feast of fun projects (try saying that five times fast!). Complete with an appetizer of the Freia Minikins Palettes, setting the centerpiece with a beautiful, springtime Jimmy Beans Wool Bouquet, and filling our candy dishes with some Cocoknits Maker's Keep Stitch Markers, there's enough for everyone to help themselves to a serving of fiber!!
Looking for something fun after dessert? Try your hand at an Easter egg hunt using the Scheepjes Stone Washed XL and River Washed XL Colour Pack! The assortment of 50 different colors makes for a rainbow of fun for the whole family! We're thinking of making it a competition in our own households with a rule that we have to make a project out of whatever "eggs" we find!

Home Is Where The Tosh Is!
As we find ourselves at home a lot more, it's only fitting to stuff some... Home into our project bags - after all, they say home is where the heart is, and our hearts belong to the world of fiber arts, hehe!
|
|
Madelinetosh Home is a plied, bulky yarn made of 100% merino wool, resulting in the fluffiest, softest yarn we've ever had the pleasure of squishing! Each skein comes with 110 yards to play with and works up well in projects like sweaters and blankets (and, if we're honest, we can't resist having a gorgeous blanket to curl up with at home)!
Hand-dyed by our own color experts, each hank is a masterful work of art just chomping at the bit to be used in your OWN masterpiece!
|
As you all may know, Madelinetosh Home is a discontinued base, meaning we won't be getting any more back in stock, so be sure to grab them before they're gone! Not sure what to make out of it? Our FREE pattern, The Leap Day Cowl is the perfect project that only uses 1 skein and an afternoon to knit up - just because it was made for leap day doesn't mean that you only have to make it on that day!

Blue Sky (Fibers) Ahead!
While we could totally go on and on about our love for warm weather and sunny days, there's something so mystical and calming about watching the night sky! Ever since we were young, we would stare up at the glittery expanse of space and be inspired! As we found ourselves enamored by the twinkling stars, there's always been one cluster that catches our eye. The Pleiades, A.K.A. The Seven Sisters, which is smack dab in the middle of the Taurus constellation and is beloved for being easy to find and obvious to the naked eye!
|
Blue Sky Fibers drew inspiration from this age-old love for space and began a KAL (Knit-Along) on April 1st as part of their Traveler Series! The Seven Sisters Top is a casual, loose-fitting summery tee knit up in their Printed Cotton yarn.
The flowy design is mostly crafted from stockinette stitch, making it a staple for any knitter out there as well as serving as a great beginner's project! The printed technique used in the yarn makes a gorgeous mosaic look when knit up, like having your own little personal constellations to wear! If you aren't a fan of speckles and prefer a solid look, this top is also gorgeous in Blue Sky Fibers Organic Cotton yarn!
Wear this top on its own on a breezy summer afternoon, or layer it with a cardigan or jacket when it starts to cool down so you can still represent your stellar knitting skills!

This week's FPF (Free Pattern Friday) feature is a springtime staple of a sleeveless top! Just in time to beat the heat of the sweltering spring and summer afternoons comes this easy peasy project that only uses 2-4 balls of Universal Yarn Bamboo Pop Sock! The self-striping nature of the yarn elevates the simple pattern with a gorgeous alternating gradient, which makes for an effortless design that any level of knitter can make! The A-line shape and drapey feel of the finished piece just adds to the overall comfort and breeziness!
Looking for something else in a heavier weight or different yarn? Head on over to our Free Pattern page and peruse our project ideas! There, we have designs for new and seasoned crafters alike!

Projects on our Needles!
Amy's Mokum Cowl
Amy fell in love as soon as she laid eyes on the Mokum Cowl, which was inspired by the gorgeous, winding architecture of Amsterdam! Designed by Mieka John as her own love note to the city, the graphic colorwork mirrors the winding roads, mosaic walls, and open waterways perfectly! Beginning with a crochet provisional cast-on, Amy sped through this project, eagerly awaiting the day she could block and wear it!
Wanna know the best part? The Urth Mokum Cowl is available as a kit on our website and only needs two skeins of Urth Yarns Harvest Worsted! This project began as a KAL last year, but Mieka is always up to something fun and fresh - go follow her on Instagram for updates on what she's working on!
