One of our favorite things about the changes in season are all of the "firsts" that happen, like the first flower to bloom, the first leaf to fall, the first snowflake to stick, or... the first day of Craftvent ready to be opened?! The first spark of joy that runs through our trembling hands and shaky breaths as we embark on the first day of Craftvent with a bang is defi-knit-ly one we look forward to every year! Phew! That's a lot of firsts!
What? You didn't seriously think we were gonna do a Halloween Fright Club this year without an updated version of the Original Craftvent Calendar, did you? Don't be silly!
This year, cast on a scarf that results in a gorgeous finished project at the end of the month - think of it like a month-long Christmas gift to yourself (or your loved ones)! Take pride in the project you've completed, utilizing different stitch patterns for a fun challenge in each section. This scarf keeps you on your toes the whole time, honing your already impressive skills and giving you a fun activity to take part in every day in December! This year, each day comes in a little, reusable drawstring bag. Each day is numbered appropriately and has a cute picture to really get you in the mood for your wintertime crafts!

The knit Craftvent project was designed by our own Bean, Amy Gunderson, lovingly named the Tidings to Yew Scarf!
Inspired by the chilly season and intricate snowflakes, she got to work on a gorgeous, lacy wrap. Each section offers a new stitch pattern using Madelinetosh yarn for an elegant project fit for any snow queen this season!
|
Are you a crocheter? This project is for you too! The crochet version is a scarf designed by none other than CocoCrochetLee!
The aptly named Ginger Snap Wrap features advanced crochet techniques to give you some brain food this season with different cable work in each section as well as some other techniques peppered in!

Both options have two festive colorways to choose from - Cinnamon Sugar: The shades of autumn underneath the blanket of winter. This colorway reminds us of freshly baked gingerbread cookies and sugar-crusted pies. It's like spiced cider came to life to wrap us up in warmth! - Northern Lights: Cool and wintery, this colorway is like going out in the middle of the calm night watching the Northern Lights dance above you! Fresh and exciting like the first snowfall of the year, choosing this colorway is a no brrrr-ainer!

Part of our lives here at Jimmy Beans involves receiving incoming shipments. When our doorbell rings, the Beans descend upon these shipments, hungry to find new and interesting yarns in the way of new bases and new shades, and we gotta say - this shipment did NOT disappoint. We received new colors of beloved Berroco bases like Sesame and the Ultra Wool family as well as two brand new bases!

Summer is never over with the newest Berroco yarn, Aerial! This yarn is airy and light and complements any yarn you pair with it by adding a soft halo and gentle sheen, kinda like when you add the finishing detail work on your latest masterpiece!
Each ball carries 284 yards of fuzzy fibers and is made out of superkid mohair and silk, making you feel as luxurious as you'll look when you use this yarn in your next project! Using the yarn alone results in a lacy, breezy finished project perfect for wrapping up in!
|
Just like its namesake, Berroco Mochi yarn is INCREDIBLY squishable and has quickly become one of our favorites to work with! Surprisingly soft and airy for a heavy worsted yarn, we can credit its softness to the blend of fine merino wool and baby alpaca while the springiness is the nylon's doing.
This supple blend comes together to create something lightweight, yet warm, for you to wear in the coming months - who says you have to wear heavy things to stay warm?!

More Malabrigo!
Okay, we have to admit, working with and around yarn is pretty much the best thing ever! Being able to take breaks and go to squish some yarn is great - who needs a stress ball!? That's why when we get a big shipment in to restock the empty shelves we go a little bit wild! Stealing away to run through the aisles and admire the rainbow of shades we have at our fingertips is both soothing and inspiring for our souls.
We just got a shipment of Malabrigo yarn, effectively bringing the yarn party to us (you could even say they were Malabringing the party, hehe!) and we're excited to continue with that party in shipments to you!

Malabrigo Rios is made out of 100% superwash merino and carries 210 yards per skein! Thanks to the superwash, this yarn is machine-washable (though we do recommend hand washing your hand-knits and hand-crochets) and plied, meaning no felting! This worsted weight yarn is as cozy as it is squishy (and trust us, it's pretty darn squishy!) and comes in a whole bunch o' neon and neutral shades! This yarn is only dyed in batches of 10 skeins at a time - if you need more than that amount, we will visually match the shades for you and email you if they aren't similar enough to blend.

Oh. My. Tosh!
It's always time to have a nice shawl on your needles! Shawls are a great way to show off an artistically dyed yarn and are super customizable to you! From airy, light, summer shawls to chunky, large winter wraps, you could just keep knitting forever and end up with a blanket to curl up in! Pairing them with our typical wardrobe is always a fun challenge too. Do we do something bright and loud or muted and neutral? Too. Many. Options!
That's why we love the array of bases Madelinetosh has to offer! It's like being a kid in a candy shop with their selection of shades and weights, from the ultra-fine Prairie to the super bulky A.S.A.P. Expertly dyed by hand, each skein of Madelinetosh yarn is unique and blends beautifully, making choosing your colors the hardest part of knitting your wrap (it's basically a life or death question for us!).
Below, we have some of our newest favorite projects that we've been eyeing recently from the likes of Stephen West, Tin Can Knits, and Vickie Howell! Ranging in color stories, yarn weight, and difficulty, there's a shawl for everyone!
Please note: Are you interested in a color shown here, but we don't have enough in stock? Just place an order, and we will let you know how long it will take to arrive!

Adrienne's Accessories!
Ah, yes. Notions are like the unsung heroes of any maker's project bag - after all, who are you gonna call when you drop a stitch? Are you going to try and fish it back up with your fingers or reach for a crochet hook? We'll take the hook, please! What about when the numbers rub off of your tools, are you just gonna guess and hope for the best? Absolutely not! Need to remember where in your project to do a different type of stitch? You can try to remember, but after a few rows it gets harder and harder and you need a stitch marker. That's why we're so excited to have these little guys in stock!
|
We can't exactly fit a whole elephant into our project bags (well, some of us may be able to), but we can certainly make room for the cute little Knitter's Pride Elephant Gauge / Yarn Cutter! He's like a jack of all trades for notions packaged in a lovely lavender shade!
You can check your gauge with a 4" ruler or the size of your needles AND hooks with the outward-facing notches - you can also cut your yarn on his tusks! Woah nelly! We're huge fans of our tools being both useful and adorable!

|
Speaking of adorable, how cute are these little stitch markers!? Paying homage to maker's best friend are the new Creating with Sticks Stitch Barkers in the shape of little dog faces! You'll never lose your place again with these good boys who are experts at the command "stay"!
Each pack of Stitch Barkers comes complete with a litter of 20 dog-eared stitch markers that comfortably fit up to a size US 10.5 needle and sit neatly in a small, pawsome tin with a sweet little dachshund gracing the lid.

One of the most important and beloved holidays of the year was this week! That's right - it was National Dog Day! A full 24 hours where we celebrate our furry friends and give them even more love than we already do! Watson, the Wool Watcher puppy, got a well-deserved break and a new bandana to get the festivities rolling (he also got more treats than he's allowed to - shh! Don't tell Jimmy!). We laughed and played and relaxed with a good project, although he did try to eat our yarn (we can't get too mad though, he's just a puppy after all)!
|
Watson, the Wool Watcher puppy, is the official mascot for finding yarn and accessories at incredible prices! He uses his super sniffer to snuff out any strings hiding underneath tables and in bushes so everyone can sink their needles and hooks into something special (unless you just want to stock your stash for a rainy day - he's more than fine with that too, as long as you still give him head scratches)! Can you believe that Watson's sleuthing abilities found things like Berroco Nebula and Faux Llama Succulents this week?! It's no surprise Watson Wednesday fell on National Dog Day this year! What a good boy - dogs really are a maker's best friend!

Project On Our Needles!
Rowan's Tracy Sleeveless Tee
Designed by Arne & Carlos, this super cute sleeveless tee reminds us to take a second to lounge in the sun while it's still summertime! Cute alone or layered with a cardigan, this tee can transform from a summer staple to a fall must-have! You may notice this design feels familiar - that's because it uses the same pattern as the Hepburn Cardigan, bringing a sense of balance to your project bag and wardrobe as a whole!
The diamond-shaped eyelet motif gives a timeless feel while the splash of coral modernizes it, making this project a sophisticated time traveler of sorts!
