| New Rowan Patterns, Craftvent & Spooky Notions! Stitch with Spooky Spirits! | | |
It's officially fall, which means we can finally start on our cool-weather crafts (though some of us already started back in early summer)! To help us out on this journey, Rowan came out with new yarn, and we're stoked to be able to pick some of it up to share with you guys! Both of these new yarns are fuzzy and fluffy and perfect for snuggling!

Rowan Merino Aria brings the fall knitting right to you! This yarn is perfect for all sorts of cozy sweaters and chunky scarves that keep you warm, comfortable, and above all, fashionable! This bulky weight is made out of 93% Merino wool for that soft and fuzzy fiber we adore so much while providing a gentle halo effect in each ball! The slightly felted appearance gives your next project a look and feel of something that has been worn often and quite literally lived in, making for a chic and cozy appearance. This single-ply yarn works up fast with some big needles and hooks while the construction makes it both lightweight and warm!
|
Are you more of a boucle person? We have to admit it can be a bit of an acquired taste, but oh, is it lovely! Rowan Soft Boucle is our newest go-to for the fall/winter season because it adds texture and soft brilliance to anything we set our minds to. This chunky yarn is an expertly crafted blend of cotton, alpaca, Merino wool, and polyamide. Just like the Merino Aria yarn, it works up very quickly into something soft and warm that's ready to take on the cool chill of the coming months!

Oh. My. Tosh! Did you know that the Jimmy Beans Craftvent Calendar this year uses a whole smorgasbord of Madelinetosh Tosh Merino Light yarn to work up into this gorgeous masterpiece? The Jimmy Beans Craftvent Calendar is a (nearly) month-long project that fills up your heart and project bag with plenty of yarn and goodies to keep even the most avid maker content!
This year, we have options for both crocheters and knitters to join in the fun with a design that is perfect for any crafter willing to take on a little bit of a challenge. The two available colorways evoke different moods for the season: Cinnamon Sugar fills us with the warm, cozy feeling of waking up on Christmas morning with the fireplace crackling, while Northern Lights makes us feel like trekking out into the snow to watch the green and purple hues dance above us in the silence.

The knit Craftvent Calendar, Tidings to Yew, was designed by our in-house speed-knitter, Amy Gunderson. She's been featured in the likes of Interweave Knits (the front cover, even) and has a plethora of other achievements (like delivering some sassy one-liners from time to time). The crochet Craftvent Calendar, Ginger Snap Wrap, was crafted by none other than the incredible CocoCrochetLee! Her vision for something challenging and beautiful hit the mark, and we're super excited to share it with you guys!

Tosh Merino Brights!
When we say we love Madelinetosh Tosh Merino Light yarn, we seriously love it. Sometimes you can find one of the Beans frolicking through the aisles of Tosh yarn we have in store, happily squishing the yarn and marveling at the beautiful colors popping out of the bins. It's a great way to relieve stress around here!

|
Madelinetosh Tosh Merino Light is a fingering weight yarn that gives you a whole lotta bang for your buck! Each skein is lovingly dyed by hand, making your next project just as unique as you are with the added benefit (bene-KNIT?) of just how soft and squishy it is! This single-ply yarn has a wonderful drape to it, which adds to the already luxurious feeling of wearing a shawl out for a walk. Each skein holds a whopping 420 yards - perfect for one-skein projects and stashing it away for a rainy day. Tosh Merino Light also comes in a palette of over 550+ shades to choose from - talk about knitting with all the colors of the rainbow!
|
We understand that such a large selection can be a little overwhelming, so we've implemented a smart system to sort the yarn on any page in a way that's easy for you and pleasing to the eye. Are you looking for a specific color? By clicking on the colored dot above the yarn, you can filter out shades you aren't looking to use, effectively narrowing down your choices to all of that one shade you've been dreaming of!
Please Note: Have you fallen in love with a colorway but it shows 0 in stock? By placing an order for it anyway, you will receive a timeline as to when you can expect to it. The incredible dye team over at Madelinetosh HQ will place your order in the queue and dye up a skein (or six) for you - no minimums necessary!

Knit It Then Gift It!
Interweave Knits always seems to come in clutch when we're starting to run out of projects to keep on our needles (it's just so addicting - we can't stop!). From sweaters to cowls and scarves, we're excited to cast on for the chilly autumn and winter months a little bit early this year. Though we have to say, it's never too early to start hunting for that perfect project!
|
This magazine is filled to the brim with plenty of pretty patterns to sink your needles into! With a keen eye for things that will certainly bring joy by being gifted to someone else or even just made for yourself, the team at Interweave curated a palette of colors and designs to keep us happy and warm this season!
The release of this issue in early fall makes it super easy for us slower knitters to cast on and finish a gift in time for Christmas (we can't ALL be speed knitters around here). In this issue, there's even a design made out of a single skein of Madelinetosh Tosh Merino Light - now that's something to get excited about!

Sarah's Spooky Stitch Markers!Boo!
Did we scare ya?
|
|
We've got something scarier than a jump scare of us saying "boo!" and that's just how scarily cute our Fright Club accessories are!
We can't spill the beans just yet on all of the accessories we've included in this "freaky frightvent" as some have dubbed it, but we CAN show you one of our favorites - and you don't need a ghost-hunting team to see them.
|
Today is day 9 of Fright Club - have you been keeping up? Maybe you've been ahead of the curve and are already done with your project? Either way, you may have already seen the absolutely ADORABLE stitch markers that our Bean, Sarah, designed! In spooky shades of pumpkin orange, ectoplasm green, and midnight purple, get your scare on with these creepily cute little creatures that will lovingly hold your stitches in place, and hopefully scare them away from the edge of the needle (we're no fans of dropped stitches around these parts)!

Last week, we had a wonderful get-together with Martin Storey. He talked to us about his process, including how he comes up with his patterns and draws them out on paper before delving in. Sometimes it's so easy to forget that knitting and drawing are so closely intertwined that when someone brings it up, we feel so much more... artistic!
|
Next week, we have another exciting Zoom call with none other than the incredible Lisa Richardson! Lisa is an ultra-talented Rowan designer and she will be joining us for a live Zoom call on October 16th from 10AM-12PM Pacific.
Here, Lisa will tell us all about her newest Autumn/Winter collection, what it takes to make a magazine, and how an idea becomes a fully realized garment. She will also share a close look at her new Edith Wrap pattern, which uses either Rowan Creative Linen, Cotton Cashmere, or Island Blend DK!
|
|
Got questions for Lisa? Come prepared, because just like Martin Storey, she will be available for a Q&A, so keep your burning questions at the ready and be sure to toss them her way when the time comes! Exclusive for our customers via Facebook and this newsletter, RSVP below!

Project On Our Needles!
Rowan's Haida Hat
There are few things better than a snuggly hat to keep your noggin warm when the winter winds start blowing in! Using the luxurious Rowan Island Blend Fine yarn, this hat was whipped up in a jiffy with an eyecatching floral design that makes us think of the cooling sunsets! The entire thing is worked in stockinette with the exception of the ribbing on the brim.
And the best part? It has a cute, fuzzy little pom pom right on top!
We do not currently carry Rowan Island Blend Fine, but Rowan Felted Tweed is a great substitute!
