RENO, NV, November 1st, 2011: Jimmy Beans Wool announces the call for contributions for the 2012-2013 Beans for Brains college scholarship program. Last year, with the support of the industry, Beans for Brains was able to award $18,000 in scholarship funds to knitters and crocheters across the US and internationally.
This is the third year that Jimmy Beans Wool has provided support to higher education across the United States by awarding scholarships to deserving students. The goal is to help provide opportunities for higher education to people in the fiber community. "It is an investment in our industry and in our future," says Jimmy Beans Wool owner, Laura Zander. "This year, after many requests from our customers and other yarn shop owners, we are asking our community to help us out. Jimmy Beans Wool and 9 other scholarship sponsors will match dollar for dollar, up to $10,000 collectively, all donations raised in the month of November. If everyone gave a dollar, we'd reach our goal in no time!"
People interested in donating can contribute funds online at https://www.JimmyBeansWool.com/BeansForBrains or they can stop in and donate in person at the Jimmy Beans Wool retail store's new location, 1312 Capital Blvd in Reno.
The merit based award is open to all undergraduate students who will be attending an accredited four-year institution in the US for the 2012-2013 school year. Applicants may be pursuing a degree in any field; however they must know how to knit or crochet to apply. Applications for the awards will be accepted starting March 1st, 2012.
