RENO, NV, November 1st, 2011: Jimmy Beans Wool, a leading yarn and fabric retailer, announced today that CEO Laura Zander has been invited to Washington D.C. for the Business Council and Business Forward Business Leaders' Forum at the White House. On November 4th, Zander will be heading to the White House for a discussion with the Administration on jobs and economic competitiveness, alongside executives from Dow, Marriott, BET Entertainment, Talisman Energy and more.
The agenda for November 4th is designed as a day-long program for attendees to interact with Administration officials on a range of issues, including the American Jobs Act, innovation, infrastructure, regulatory reform, access to capital, and ways in which the federal government can set the table to encourage job creation. Dr. Rebecca Blank, the Acting Deputy Secretary of Commerce, will open the event with a Top Line economic update, followed by round table discussions involving all participants.
As a market leader in the multi billion-dollar needle arts & crafts industry, Zander and Jimmy Beans Wool was hand selected to be amongst a very small, elite group of successful businesses asked to come to the White House and offer non-partisan input on how to help other small businesses flourish and grow in our struggling economy. As one of the fastest growing retail businesses in the country last few years, Jimmy Beans Wool nearly 600% growth drew the attention of members of the Administration.
Laura Zander, CEO of Jimmy Beans Wool, was honored to be selected to join this group. "Our business is growing rapidly, and is self-financed and debt free" said Zander, " and we want to keep it that way. Being invited to the White House for an event of this stature is unbelievably flattering and really validates the great work we do. It also legitimizes our industry as a whole- who knew that yarn and fabric would catch the eye of the White House? "
