RENO, NV, September 8th, 2007: Iris G, from Ann Arbor, Michigan, has won over $400 in knitting prizes from the August 2007 Nationwide Pattern Contest at Jimmy Beans Wool. Her inspiration for the pattern: "Few guys I know want their knitted scarves long and fancy, instead they always ask for something short, soft, and machine washable. Storm Scarf meets their standards. It can be comfortably tucked under a winter coat, and does not take much space when taken off. The two-color mini cables make it a quick and fun project for you -- great as a last-minute gift item!"
Iris currently lives in Ann Arbor, Michigan, but is always on the move. Iris explains, "Knitting is a creative outlet for me, and most of my designs are inspired by historical, cultural, and artistic resources. Check out my blog (irisgknits.blogspot.com) for designs, stories, sketches, techniques, and free patterns!"
The Storm Scarf pattern is available free from the Jimmy Beans Wool website. "We're really excited about this month's winning pattern. It is simple, yet stylish, and just in time for fall!," says Laura Zander, owner of Jimmy Beans Wool.
The contest is ongoing; submissions will be accepted for this month's contest through September 30th. Each month's prizes include a $50 gift certificate to Jimmy Beans Wool as well as yarn, patterns and accessories valued at more than $400.
