The unique event gives yarn lovers a chance to visit all nine local yarn shops between Reno and Auburn over a four-day period in September. This year, there will be an option to attend both in-person and virtually.
"We're honored that Jimmy Beans Wool is again partnering with the Sierra Nevada Yarn Crawl to bring this amazing event to life," said Laura Zander, owner of Jimmy Beans Wool, one of the nation's premiere wool yarn companies. "This has been such a popular must-do for all our customers and it gives local businesses the chance to work together to strengthen the fiber community collectively!"
Jimmy Beans Wool is one of the sponsors for this event and will be hosting several in-person events including Make-Your-Own Stitch Markers, bingo scavenger hunt, a Pop-Up Shop from Apple Fiber Studios, Trunk Shows, and access to its 20,000 square-foot warehouse in Reno.
The company will also share the latest edition to Team Beans-a Tiny Yarn Library (similar to the Little Free Library boxes, except with yarn!), courtesy of the MT Community Love Fund. This gives yarn lovers an opportunity to take a skein and leave a skein.
Three virtual events are scheduled for yarn crawlers who aren't able to attend in person, including:
- Jimmy Beans' sister company, Madelinetosh, have created two exclusive videos that dive into the world of hand-dyed yarn.
- The iconic 'Orange Lady,' Gaye Glasspie of GGMadeIt will join Laura Zander to chat about the fiber industry and more in a Q&A session.
- For both virtual and in person attendees, designer Amy Gunderson will walk participants through the process of salvaging any projects with her class, "Don't Despair, Repair!"
All participating stores will be open from 10 a.m. PST to 6 p.m. PST. Each store is offering up a free pattern in both knit and crochet to both in person and virtual participants with purchase yarn. Jimmy Beans, along with other participating stores, have also teamed up with local dyers to create custom yarn colorways specifically for this event.

About Jimmy Beans Wool: At the downturn of the dotcom boom, former Silicon Valley engineers Laura and Doug Zander moved to the mountains and opened up a tiny yarn shop in Truckee, California. Jimmy, as Laura is lovingly known, sold coffee alongside the wool (hence the Beans in the name) and Jimmy Beans Wool was born. In 2004, the company settled down in Reno, Nevada where they currently reside today. They occupy an expansive 20,000 sq. ft. warehouse, are considered one of the country's leading destination yarn shops, employ 35 team members, and have built a loyal following and impressive online presence. Along with yarn, Jimmy Beans also provides consumers the most innovative crafting products and accessories, recently acquiring Madelinetosh and della Q, two beloved companies amongst knitters, crocheters, and makers. Jimmy Beans will continue to develop products under their patent pending Jimmy's SmartStix, plus hooks, needles, and notions.
