Reno, Nevada -- October, 8 2021--Ever thought about breaking a world (or is it more apt to say 'wool'?) record? Well, Jimmy Beans Wool sure has!
Kicking off during the Sierra Nevada Yarn Crawl on Oct. 14th, 2021, Jimmy Beans Wool will begin its efforts to break the record for 'Biggest Ball of Yarn' by collecting scraps of yarn.
"This is a great opportunity for makers to clear out their stashes and add something fun to their resumes," said Laura Zander, CEO of Jimmy Beans Wool. "So many of us were missing the interaction with our friends and fellow crafters during the lockdown. We're really looking forward to seeing our community come together and connect to accomplish something fun."
While there is no official record for the biggest ball of yarn, there is one for the Biggest Ball of Twine. The Jimmy Beans Wool team is aiming to make it at least 13-feet in diameter, which they will accomplish by tying scraps of yarn together and winding it into a ball.
But that's not all--the staff at Jimmy Beans Wool has some fun things up their sleeves.
While the ball of yarn is being wound, prizes such as Jimmy Beans Bucks Rewards, free patterns, and other goodies will be tied and hidden inside the ball.
Once the massive yarn sphere is completed, makers will be invited to unravel it to win the prizes. One lucky participant will have an opportunity to win a major grand prize slipped into the middle of the ball.
This will run throughout a calendar year, so check back next October to see how big the Jimmy Beans Wool ball of yarn has gotten.
Those who want to participate can either drop off or mail in scraps of yarn to:

About Jimmy Beans Wool: At the downturn of the dotcom boom, former Silicon Valley engineers Laura and Doug Zander moved to the mountains and opened up a tiny yarn shop in Truckee, California. Jimmy, as Laura is lovingly known, sold coffee alongside the wool (hence the Beans in the name) and Jimmy Beans Wool was born. In 2004, the company settled down in Reno, Nevada where they currently reside today. They occupy an expansive 20,000 sq. ft. warehouse, are considered one of the country's leading destination yarn shops, employ 35 team members, and have built a loyal following and impressive online presence. Along with yarn, Jimmy Beans also provides consumers the most innovative crafting products and accessories, recently acquiring Madelinetosh and della Q, two beloved companies amongst knitters, crocheters, and makers. Jimmy Beans will continue to develop products under their patent pending Jimmy's SmartStix, plus hooks, needles, and notions.
