These knitters and crocheters will be participating in the Sierra Nevada Yarn Crawl starting Thursday September 15 and ending Sunday September 18. The crawl is a four-day event where fiber lovers have a chance to take a self-guided tour to shop at local yarn shops all over the Sierra Nevadas.
"We look forward to being a part of this event every year! The crawl is so special because it gives knitters and crocheters even more of an excuse to come visit one of the largest warehouses of yarn in the world," said Laura Zander, founder of Jimmy Beans Wool. "This will be the first crawl we've done in the new location on 891 Trademark Drive so we're really excited to show off our digs to new and returning crawlers."
Jimmy Beans Wool (JBW) has fun events planned for crawlers:
- Each day at 10 a.m. sharp there will be a 'Presenting Best of the Crawl' where crawlers can show off their projects to a panel of JBW Judges for the chance to win something special.
- Thursday is dedicated to beginner projects
- Friday is for advanced projects
- Saturday crawlers are encouraged to show off any crazy sock projects
- Sunday is closing out the weekend with stashbuster projects
- Daily bingo at 11 a.m.
- Power hour of prizes daily from 4-5 p.m. Participate in fun games for the chance to win even MORE prizes!
The company has also created a special custom color with its sister company Madelinetosh. The colorway named Desert Prism is inspired by the fields of wildflowers that dust the meadows and mountains found in Northern Nevada. Desert Prism and an exclusive kit using the colorway will be available for purchase during the crawl.
Crawlers can also squish Reno Rafter 7, JBW's first truly-local yarn created in collaboration with the University of Nevada, Reno's College of Agriculture, Biotechnology & Natural Resources (CABNR).
Additionally, both the retail store and three-room-warehouse with a great selection of yarn, hooks, needles, and more will be open to the public for shopping.
All participating stores will be open from 10 a.m. PST to 6 p.m. PST Thursday through Saturday and 10 a.m. PST to 5 p.m. PST on Sunday.

Jimmy Beans Wool is known for its lightning fast shipping, award winning customer service, and innovative Just at Jimmy's products. The company owns the brands Madelinetosh, a hand-dyed yarn company, and della Q, a line of cases and bags made for makers. The company continues to develop products under its patent-pending Jimmy's SmartStix,. Additionally, Jimmy Beans produces its very own truly local yarn, Reno Rafter 7.
