Reno, Nevada - May 12, 2023 --Jimmy Beans Wool, the market leading online retailer of yarn, has hired Lena Skvagerson, a seasoned knit and crochet designer & video content creator, as Creative Director.
"Our family of brands, including Jimmy Beans, Madelinetosh, and della Q, are continuing rapidly growing and we really wanted someone with a long history of experience and an eye for the market to spearhead expanding our brands," said Laura Zander, co-founder of Jimmy Beans Wool. "It also helps that Lena has been a fan of Jimmy Beans Wool for years and her enthusiasm for our brand has all of us excited for her to join the team."
And Lena concurs. She said she's followed the Jimmy Beans journey since she moved from Sweden to the United States in 2008.
"I have been thinking for quite a while that if I ever was to work for another company, then I really would like to work for JBW," Lena added.
Lena was most recently the exclusive designer for the Annie's Signature designs, as well as Creative Knitting Magazine, Crochet! Magazine, Crochet World. She was also the designer of many of the projects for the Knit and Crochet Now! TV show.
"Over the last 9 years I have been working mainly with design, and as much as I have absolutely loved it, I have also missed many of the other parts from my background," she added. "Once I learned that JBW was planning to add in-house designs and tutorial content, I felt that we would be a perfect match."
Her responsibilities will be to direct yarn & pattern development, grow the Jimmy Beans Wool customer base, and be the official company designer.
"I look forward to helping build an internal design department, with unique knit and crochet patterns - designs that will show what JBW stands for and help us establish our identity, show our company culture, and the values that are important to us," Lena said.
Lena will be based in San Luis Obispo, California with frequent visits up to Jimmy Beans Wool HQ in Reno, Nevada.

About Jimmy Beans Wool: At the downturn of the dotcom boom, former Silicon Valley engineers Laura and Doug Zander moved to the mountains and opened up a tiny yarn shop in Truckee, California. Jimmy, as Laura is lovingly known, sold coffee alongside the wool (hence the Beans in the name) and Jimmy Beans Wool was born. In 2004, the company settled down in Reno, Nevada where they currently reside today. They occupy an expansive 20,000 sq. ft. warehouse, are considered one of the country's leading destination yarn shops, employ 35 team members, and have built a loyal following and impressive online presence. Along with yarn, Jimmy Beans also provides consumers the most innovative crafting products and accessories, recently acquiring Madelinetosh and della Q, two beloved companies amongst knitters, crocheters, and makers. Jimmy Beans will continue to develop products under their patent pending Jimmy's SmartStix, plus hooks, needles, and notions.
