"Aubrey Lynn is a good, close friend of all of us here on staff at Jimmy Beans Wool. She's the owner of Knits and Knots Minden and Tahoe and the dyer behind local yarn line Storyteller Yarns," said Shannon Flores, General Manager at Jimmy Beans Wool. "Story, the beloved daughter of Aubrey, tragically and very unexpectedly passed away this year in September. We want to honor Story."
In remembrance of Story's vibrant spirit and love for creativity, the staff at Jimmy Beans is hosting this class to celebrate her life and contribute to a Beans for Brains scholarship in her honor.
"Story loved friendship bracelets, had a passion for knitting and crocheting, bedazzling, and she had a true artistic talent for drawing and doodling," Flores shared. "Above all, Story was so kind and such a light. Words can't describe how much her loss has affected our local community."
The centerpiece of the event is a special hands-on class where participants will have the opportunity to create a unique yarn wreath in the shape of a star. The class is open to all skill levels, and no prior crafting experience is necessary. The team is accepting donations of $25 to participate in the class, which will go directly to next year's scholarship. All materials will be provided.
"The Beans for Brains Board wants to honor Story's legacy by including a brand-new scholarship called 'Story's Stars,' which is a tribute to a special little girl who brought so much joy and creativity to everyone who knew her," Flores said. "This event will help us raise funds to support Story's scholarship."
Additionally, Aubrey hand-dyed a special slub fingering yarn for the event, which will be available for purchase along with the other Storyteller Yarns bases.

About Jimmy Beans Wool: In 2002, former Silicon Valley engineers Laura and Doug Zander opened up a tiny yarn shop in Truckee, California. Jimmy, as Laura is lovingly known, sold coffee alongside the wool (hence beans in the name), and Jimmy Beans Wool was born! In 2004, the company settled down in Reno, Nevada. Jimmy Beans Wool is known for its lightning-fast shipping, award-winning customer service, and innovative Just at Jimmy's products. The company owns the brands Simply Shetland, the North American distributor of Jamieson's of Shetland, a hand-dyed yarn company, Madelinetosh and della Q, a line of cases and bags made for makers. The company continues to develop products under its patent-pending Jimmy's SmartStix,. Additionally, Jimmy Beans produces its very own truly local yarn, Reno Rafter 7, and an upcycled yarn brand called Yarn Citizen .
