not ideal but not terrible
Like winterfinch said, this yarn has nice colors, and it's tough enough for socks without question. There are a few spots where it's thin or there are fuzzies hanging chads? that detract from the otherwise pretty decent quality of the yarn. In terms of feel, it's about as rough as Patons Kroy Socks yarn once knitted up. Definitely not for those with delicate feet, and probably better worn with a liner sock underneath.

Feels nice, but sizing is maybe a bit...
This being a machine washable yarn available in vivid primary colors, I ordered this yarn to make a Lego-themed hat for my nephew for Christmas, and I found it one of the more unique yarns I've worked with. In ball form, it felt almost spongey, strangely enough. It was very soft and squishy. As I worked with it, the fabric it produced was really nice and soft as well.
However, no matter what I did, I could not get a hat that was the right size! I can't say it's entirely the yarn's fault, because I like to knit things at denser gauge than most knitters, and my hunch is that doing so really made the fabric much less elastic than it would have been if I had worked it at the specified gauge. And, well, I was tired after already working on a cowl, shawl, tote bag, and another hat. My gauge could have been slipping too.
The bottom line, though, is that it's a really soft, squishy yarn that feels almost like foam if you squeeze it right. It would be great for the right project and in the right hands. It being machine washable is only a plus, especially for kids' projects. This yarn could even be used for baby projects if you wish because of its softness and washability.

Great way to store hooks
I've got three of these Della Q items, including the circular and DPN needle cases as well as this crochet roll, all in the Ocean color. Of the three, the crochet roll is the most useful and easy to use. When unrolled, there are marked spaces for every hook size B through N including 4.5, with unmarked spaces at the beginning and the end. I keep all my extra small stainless hooks together in one slot at the beginning. The slots are just the right size for me to store both my plastic-handled Clover hooks and the same size Susan Bates hooks in the same slot.
The way it rolls, the smaller sizes are the most inside when you roll it up to store it, which is great if you're worried about them falling out without you noticing. There's also a top flap that folds over the hooks which keeps them safe and secure. The ties at the end are long enough that you can wrap them around the roll twice and still have just enough to make a standard bow knot to secure it. Because of the silky material, you can even tie a simple square knot and not worry about it getting too tight to untie.

Just the right mix
My experience with not cotton and bamboo have left something to be desired, but where each of those fail separately, the 50/50 blend works beautifully. Many bamboo yarns are shiny, at least more than I would like, and many cotton yarns are either rugged and burly like a mop head, or they're stiff and slick like embroidery floss.
This yarn maintains a great balance between matte and shiny, and it's neither too stiff not too fragile. Occasionally it splits a little, but not nearly as badly as most cotton or bamboo yarns. And it's soft, but not too soft. I'm using it for socks, so I would love to have a little nylon or silk in the mix too, but otherwise, it's an excellent yarn, one that is cheap and comes in big balls that seem to never end.

Best needles ever
I haven't been knitting more than a year now, but I've tried several different types and brands of needles. At first I was in love with Clover's Takumi bamboo needles, but when I asked for a set of deluxe HiyaHiya interchangeables for Xmas, I discovered the joy of working with stainless steel. I also found the Knitter's Pride Karbonz to be quite nice, especially in the smallest of sizes, but when I needed a size 0 circular, I decided to purchase ChiaGoo after reading good things about them.
After that first ChiaGoo red lace circular, I haven't looked back. These are the only needles I use now. Available in a full range of sizes from 0 to 19 including truly obscure sizes like 10.875! and in lengths up to 60, there is always a ChiaoGoo red lace circular to fit my needs. I use these for flat and circular knitting. Since I'm pretty good with magic loop, the 60 is about the only length I need. I have one of every size I use commonly, and I haven't touched my bamboo needles or the HiyaHiya set in ages. Nothing beats the nylon-coated steel mesh cable! It's tangle-free, snag-free, and sturdy!
Though these needles are indeed made in China, they don't reek of the typical Chinese import lackluster quality. These are high quality, professional-grade needles fit for any knitter.
