How to crochet an Amigurumi Ball
All kinds of Amigurumi figures require you to crochet a ball. Amber shows us her favorite method for making balls.
Start with a magic adjustable ring. Please see our video How to Crochet a Magic Adjustable Ring for instructions.
When you have completed your ring begin working in the round as follows:
Increase rounds
- rnd 1: work 2 sc in each stitch
- rnd 2: work *1 sc in first stitch and 2 sc in the next stitch, repeat from * around
- rnd 3: work *1 sc in first two stitches, 2 sc in next stitch, repeat from * around
- rnd 4: work *1 sc in first three stitches, 2 sc in next stitch, repeat from * around
- rnd 5: work *1 sc in first four stitches, 2 sc in next stitch, repeat from * around
- rnd 6: work *1 sc in first five stitches, 2 sc in next stitch, repeat from * around
rnds 7-9: work 1 sc in each stitch every row
Begin decrease rounds. Please see your video on how to decrease in crochet. How to Decrease in Crochet
- rnd 10: *1 sc in first four stitches, work 1 sc decrease over the next 2 stitches, repeat from * around
- rnd 11: *1 sc in first three stitches, work 1 sc decrease over the next 2 stitches, repeat from * around
- rnd 12: *1 sc in first two stitches, work 1 sc decrease over the next 2 stitches, repeat from * around
- rnd 13: *1 sc in first stitches, work 1 sc decrease over the next 2 stitches, repeat from * around
- rnd 14: work sc decreases around, you'll have 5 stitches left.
Stuff the ball as tightly as you wish
Weave in the end, pull tightly, and fasten so it won't come loose.
That's all there is to it!
Have fun making Amigurumi and thanks for watching!
