How to use a Bloom Loom by Boye
Using the Boye Bloom Loom, you can add flair to your knitted and crocheted projects! Jeanne shows how easy it is to use this handy little tool to easily make flowers accents. The blooms were featured in a project in the Vogue Knitting Magazine Early Fall 2011.
- Start by placing your yarn in the notch by the post numbered seven on the loom.
- Take your yarn and go straight up to the post numbered one and wrap it around that post.
- Bring your yarn back down and wrap it around post six then across and wrap around post 12. Continue in this manner alternating back-and-fourth all the way around the loom.
- Repeat this wrapping pattern three to four times for the outer bloom.
- After you have returned to your initial loop, place the end of your yarn into the notch by seven.
- Take your contrasting yarn color for the inner bloom and start at the six notch and take your yarn to the inner post numbered one and repeat the process of alternating and crossing just as you did with the outer post but around each of the inner posts.
- Do this two times around for the inner bloom.
- Leave a 18' tail on the outer bloom yarn and thread the tail through a tapestry needle. Thread the tail through in the same alternating pattern you used to create your blooms. Make sure to capture all the legs of your bloom.
- When you are finished weaving the tail through the bloom, then you can pull your creation off of the loom!
Tips: Be creative, use a third color to weave through the center or stitch a button, use beads or glue small polished stones in the center to create the flower centers you like!
