2026 Malabrigo Club: A Year of Color, Craft, and the Art of Making

If you’ve been with Jimmy Beans Wool for a long time, you already know I have a soft spot for Malabrigo.

The kind that settles deep. The kind that feels like walking into a room filled with color and recognizing an old friend.

We started carrying Malabrigo back in 2007, long before we had clubs, landing pages, special launches, or anything remotely fancy. Back then, it was just us, some shelves in a tiny Reno shop, and the thrill of cracking open boxes of Worsted Merino - that famously soft, slightly rustic, unbelievably saturated yarn that made knitters gasp when they picked it up.

It felt like magic. It was magic.

That was my introduction to Malabrigo. And, really, my introduction to Tobias and Antonio - the hearts and minds behind the brand. Over the years, we’ve watched them build something truly extraordinary, stitch by stitch, kettle by kettle, idea by idea. They are thoughtful, humble, wildly talented people who care deeply about color, craftsmanship, and community.

And honestly?
They’ve become friends.
The kind of friends you fly across the country to celebrate with - like when we joined them in Chicago for their 20th anniversary and toasted to dye pots, dreams, and decades of artistry.

So when we talk about the Malabrigo Club, it’s not “just another club” for us. It’s an extension of a story we’ve been honored to be part of for almost 20 years.

And this year’s club… well. It’s breathtaking.

Four seasons. Four fibers. Four color stories — welcome to the 2026 Malabrigo Club.

A Club Built Around the Art of Making

This year’s Malabrigo Club is a quarterly journey through fiber, color, and emotion. It’s not a pattern club, or a make-along, or a kit you race to keep up with. It’s something gentler - a slow, sensory experience designed for knitters and crocheters who savor the feel of yarn in their hands.

Each quarter, you’ll receive:

  • 150–200g of an exclusive Malabrigo colorway
  • One piece of a four-part maker’s essentials kit (two of which come from della Q)
  • Premium finishing tools curated just for this club
  • Access to additional exclusive skeins (for bigger projects or color addicts like me)
  • Community support via Facebook & Ravelry
  • Free U.S. shipping

This isn’t a club designed to tell you exactly what to make. It’s a club designed to inspire you.

A Year in Four Fibers

Each quarter explores a different Malabrigo base — each one chosen for its texture, mood, and seasonality. It’s like walking through the year with a different yarn in your hands, each one inviting you to make something that feels right for that moment in time.

These bases are so different from each other, yet unmistakably Malabrigo — soulful, colorful, and crafted with intention.

Color as Emotion, Color as Story

One of my favorite things about working with Tobias and Antonio is how they talk about color. It’s never “blue” or “pink” or “purple.” It’s “the way the sky looked at 6 p.m. in Montevideo,” or “the feeling of late summer,” or “the memory of a dusty road after rain.”

And that’s exactly how they approach the colorways for the Malabrigo Club.

Each quarter, they start from a seasonal mood board — something emotional, sensory, evocative — and from there, build a dye story around it. These colorways do not exist anywhere else. They’re created exclusively for club members.

That’s why so many people join the Malabrigo Club year after year.

It’s not just yarn.
It’s color storytelling.

Color begins here — in the care, curiosity, and craftsmanship of Malabrigo’s dyers.

The Maker’s Essentials Kit: Tools Worth Keeping

Each shipment includes a piece of a four-part essentials kit — two items from della Q and two premium finishing tools. The idea isn’t to overwhelm you with extras, but to slowly build a curated, meaningful set of maker tools throughout the year.

These are the kind of tools that feel good to use.
Tools meant to last.
Tools that honor the craft.

Who the Malabrigo Club Is Perfect For

This club is for you if:

  • You love color
  • You love artistry
  • You love slow making
  • You want to explore fibers intentionally
  • You want to feel inspired, not pressured
  • You appreciate yarn with a story behind it

It’s also a beautiful club for knitters or crocheters who want something just for themselves — a quarterly moment of joy delivered to your doorstep.

A moment of color and craft, four times a year.

A Little Behind-the-Scenes Moment

I still remember when one of our team members visited Malabrigo in Uruguay years ago — and to this day, I’m still jealous. They came back raving about the studio, the color, the energy… and meanwhile Antonio was telling me about the incredible surfing right by his house. Needless to say, a family trip to Uruguay is officially on the list for me, Huck, and Doug.

What stuck with me wasn’t just the photos or stories, but the way everyone described the space: the heat rising from the dye pots, the steam drifting into the air, and color blooming in real time. Even secondhand, it felt mesmerizing — the kind of artistry you can sense through someone else’s excitement.

But my favorite part has always been the people.

Tobias and Antonio are two of the kindest, brightest, most generous humans in this industry. They’ve built something rare: a yarn company with an enormous global following that still feels personal.

And celebrating their 20th anniversary with them this past year reminded me of why we love this brand so much.

The Malabrigo Club is our love letter back.
A way to share their artistry with you, season by season.
