Knit Project Names & Stories: Lena Skvagerson's Inspirations Unraveled

Join us for a cozy chat with our in-house designer, Lena Skvagerson, as we spill the beans on the stories behind the names of her latest knit projects!

From the colorful traditions of South American textiles to the calming vibes of coastal living, each project has its own unique inspiration.

Let's dive in, shall we?!

Preuvian Shawl: The inspiration behind the name Peruvian Shawl comes from the vibrant and rich textile traditions of South America, particularly Peru. I designed this kni shawl with multiple neutral colors, incorporating stripes, blocks, and patterns that reminded me of the beautiful and diverse craftsmanship found in South American textiles. The name reflects the cultural influence and the intricate, eye-catching designs that inspired this unique and cozy shawl.
Kaleido Shawl: The name Kaleido Shawl is inspired by the vibrant world of kaleiscopes, where colors and patterns dance together in harmony. I designed this knit shawl using a combination of bold black and a lively, multi-colored yarn to capture the dynamic and ever-changing beauty found in a kaleidoscope. The name reflects the kaleidoscopic burst of colors and patterns that make this shawl a visually enchanting and versatile accessory.
Mankind Beanie: The name Mankind Beanie is inspired by the desire to create a gender-neutral accessory that transcends style boundaries. I wanted this ribbed knit beanie to be for anyone, embracing inclusivity and versatility. Mankind reflects the idea that this beanie is designed to suit individuals of all genders, making it a fashionable and accessible choice for everyone.
Mini Gansey Sweater: The name Mini Gansey Sweater draws inspiration from traditional gansey knitting techniques, which are characterized by intricate knit and purl textures. This toddler sweater features a blend of these timeless patterns, paying homage to the heritage of gansey knitting. The Mini in the name reflects the adorable size of the sweater designed specifically for toddlers, creating a charming and classic knitwear piece for the little ones.
